I don’t know if he counts as a celebrity but I’m gutted to see Bruce Dawe died. His poem Life Cycle about AFL (or VFL) is absolutely brilliant.

He quit the music biz way back in 1985 because he didn’t like what his record company were trying to turn him into. Respect.

The great New Orleans pianist and educator Ellis Marsalis Jr. died on April 1 as a result of COVID-19. He was 85. Here he is playing with four of his sons at Jazzfest on April 28 last year:

Far out, this thing has been brutal for ageing legends in the US.
