That’s a funny title for the guy in charge of electrics.
He is not the head of lighting. that is the “gaffer”. It is very complicated but the titles come from Holywood dating back about a hundred years.

Thanks for bringing up Hanks & sending me to look for examples of his “range” throughout though.
Just found some of his highest rated are fairly new that I have not seen.
Going on a 5 film Tom Hanks binge this week. 
So ten different films where a likeable character faces a challenge that lets them become a hero is range?
Sure the challenge and the way in which he’s likeable is different movie to movie. But he plays essentially the same arc every time. He’s damn good at it and I enjoy watching him. But he doesn’t play the bad guy or even characters with flaws.
But what about that time he played that guy with coronavirus?
It really depends though. It would certainly be that if it came out now, but it came out in 1989. It predated The Simpsons by 6 months. Television comedy in 1989 was an entirely different beast. In that environment Seinfeld was genius.

Tom hanks acting is just “Tom Hanks as x role”. Not a new character.
Where he excelled was movie selection.
All this Seinfeld bashing is sickening. The show is an unrivalled masterpiece, unequalled in the annals of television. At its best, it was pure genius.

Seinfeld was pure genius and Hanks is very good at playing Tom Hanks.
