Architect of the EU is stretching it a bit. I thought he was one of the worst Presidents ever

And if you look at the ladder from 1974 and 2020 , Richmond won the flag in both years and if you take away the 5 interstate teams who were not around in 1974 , we ended up 8th in both years . ladder

Too much time on my hands tonight :upside_down_face:

“European settlers have difficulty adapting to life in an 1850’s Australian township”. What else would they have been expecting?

We’re middle of the road? Things are looking up!

Well, at one stage we were called the Gliders

There’s not too many good French Presidents, TBH.
d’Estaing had “l’affaire des diamants” where Bokassa, the dictator of the CAE offered two diamonds to him, when Minister of Finance. When this was exposed, some years later, it finished his re-election bid.

Still 28 days to go :open_mouth:

He also pretended to be some sort of aristocrat - the name was made up. He was also a pompous prick. I was forced to read his book in French ‘French Democracy’ and comment on it. My comment was that it was a work of fiction of the fantasy genre - got a fail for that.
I always held out hopes for the Huguenot Rocard, but did not get past PM. I did not mind Mitterrand - there was a great pic of him and the German Chancellor holding hands, walking up the hill to the Verdun mausoleum. Near there in NE France is also the site of some awful battles in the Franco Prussian War and Sedan where Louis Napoleon or Louis Phillipe ( can’t remember which one) was captured.
I think it is a remarkable achievement that France and Germany have not been at war with each since 1945.

Hand of God, best cheat of all time.

Fun and games when the lights went out.

Not sure he pretended, the aristocratic name was acquired by his grandfather (you can blame him) - essentially the family was twice removed from the aristocratic line.

Loved that show for the first few years, a lot of fun. Spin off from Happy Days, same for Mork & Mindy.

Did he actually have that voice or was it put on?

Peter Alliss, British golf commentator, at 82.

Had been feeling under par, I believe.

Very sad about this one. He’s more or less been on golf broadcasts for my entire life, and maybe the best there ever was. In his later years he got a bit… strange (see bottom video) but never failed to entertain.
