Can’t believe it. Another legend has left us.
Oh no, I love Jeff Beck. His concerts of recent years at the Palais have been brilliant. Very sad news.
Another huge loss … one of the very best guitarists.
RIP JB. I really wish I’d seen him live. His Ronnie Scott’s performance is a fave of mine, with the young Aussie Tal on bass.
Like others on here, l am devastated to hear of the passing on of the great Jeff Beck. I never got to see or hear him live, which is a disappointment. At his best he was nothing less than sensational, and l realized that from the first time l heard him play I’m A Man with the Yardbirds. That was guitar playing like nothing l had ever heard before, nor since for that matter either.
My own mortality weighs a little more heavily on me today, with this news. At the moment l am listening to this, my favourite Beck work, and one of my top 3 all time favourite live tracks, ever. RIP Jeff. But l know he won’t rest, he will be jamming with Jimi.
That’s a huge one.
Always seems to be an iconic musician that passes in the first week or two of every new year.
The way he made his guitar sing, was out of this world. He didn’t need to write lyrics as the guitar did all the work.
To my knowledge, Beck only ever sang lead vocals on one of his tracks, the fabulous Hi, Ho Silver Lining. As you say he much preferred to let his 6 strings do all his talking for him.
Beck also worked with Martin Armiger on an Ozzie TV series about the Vietnam war, a soundtrack called Frankie’s House, which l managed to pick up in Bangkok over 25 years ago.
It’s a running gag in Robert Rankin books that random characters will claim to have played bass on Beck’s Hi-Ho Silver Lining, which is quite the claim considering it was actually Led Zep’s (recently Them Crooked Vultures) John Paul Jones.
The significance Jeff Beck’s passing can’t be understated. Along with Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton, Beck stood as a true guitar virtuoso.
You left off Peter Green.
This one is a real head-turner.
…can’t blair to read it…
Im seeing on Twitter that Lisa Marie Presley has passed. Not sure if true
I think it’s true.That’s bloody sad
She looked so healthy at the Golden Globes 2 days ago. Very sad.
RIP
Very sad news, RIP.
