He’ll play this week… because we’re decimated by injuries

it’s going to happen eventually.

As far as outs both teams really have a number out

For Rich it’s looking like:

Lynch, Nank, Astbury, Cotchin?, Lambert … Edwards? (likely in)

Prestia also only just returned last week and looked scratchy off the layoff, hopefully that 2nd game is tougher scenario applies and he’s not at his best. Edwards will be first game back for a while.

For Ess:

2MP, Draper, Laverde?, Shiel, Caldwell, Smith, Snelling

That said we still performed at a high level last week with 5 of that 7 out anyway. And Francis returning for Lav if he misses.

I have one question.

Is Margetts umpiring this game? Because I would not put it past that dog to make up for WCE losing last week.

So is Draper rucking solo, I guess.

I thought our forward line looked better without the extra tall in it (and not for this first time), and I don’t feel plonking a pure ruckman into it is going to help much. It helps the ruck situation, but it weakens the forward line.

It’s a fine balance, and I agree it’ll take Draper a few runs before he’s up to rucking solo, so will be interesting how we handle that.

Yep, I reckon by his own admission he was down on form by not getting the Eagles up.
He would be looking to make amends.

it is a tough balance to get right i agree and i think probably a horses or courses approach is the way to go. indeed i think our forward movement has look better with only one of hooker and wright as deep forwards. I think the north game is the only game where that has worked really well.

Rightly or wrongly though we seem to be pretty committed to playing Hooker Wright and a ruckman so why not have a look at hooker and two ruckman.

Really really concerned that our forward pressure will drop off with Snelling and smith out.

If it does… tigers by 8 goals +

If Draper has only had a short stint with another team’s ressies, I’d be reluctant to bring him in. With Nank out, their strength is going to be if their smalls can pressure us with run. Chol is mobile, too.

One possibility with going taller is to try exploit them in our forward line where they often drop nank in the hole and with Astbury, Grimes and Vlastuin (who marks taller than he stands) they love the high ball in. Not so much without astbury and Nankervis.

Can we draft stengle tonight then bring him in for snelling. Stengle lights up dreamtime.

Yeah that’s my concern also

That said we still were able to do so vs WC but Rich are a different type team.

We know what will get from TIPPA and Guelfi, Perkins last week also was high in pressure acts

Really need Zaka and likely Ham to also bring the heat. As well as Stringer & Waterman.

Zaka was equal second (with Merrett) for pressure acts vs North so he can certainly do it.

i think astbury is out

Complete load of ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  wank.

The dumbfounded looks when we outnumber the ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–

As I noted.

As is Nankervis

I still think you’re underselling 2MP’s forward craft, and overselling that of Phillips.

Other than protect Draper, I don’t think the two pure ruckman option really adds to the team.

But I agree, well probably get a look at it at some stage.

Personally, I like Hooker, Jones, Stringer and Waterman as a setup. Especially if Langford plays more mid, and Stringer can stay deep for longer.
