You can’t really help how good they are or where they are at in their development. At present we have one who is a gun and the others can’t play at the top level yet for various reasons. Doesn’t mean we’re not recruiting them so I don’t see the issue. And as mentioned we have a few higher credentialed indigenous lads in the pipeline who will filter through in the next couple of years.

Perth people love footy and the novelty of having two big Victorian clubs play in WA in what will be quite a big game will mean a very solid attendance, even from the neutrals.

Not a full house, no, but there will be a lot of interest.

If we have to base ourselves in Perth for a few weeks and play, that win last night will be invaluable. We know we can beat the best team on that ground.

Tigers will be tough as I said in a previous post but we can enter with more confidence than recent years.

How good was mosquito in the indigenous game last year.

Tippa is in ripping shape, he will perform well regardless of the occasion this year.

It would be nice to squeeze an extra indigenous player in but no one is close.
Mozzie would be there if not injured.

Eyre and Brand are both indigenous.

It’s interesting.

I think it was on the Lunchtime catch up, where @CJohns interviewed Josh Eyre.
They asked him about his Indigenous background… he didn’t go into too much depth.
He just said “yeah, there is abit of Aboriginal blood on mum’s side”.

Someone with more knowledgable than me, might be able to answer this.

Can you have abit of Indigenous heritage down the line, but not identify as Aboriginal?

I’d have thought that was a decent representation myself. Certainly not an ‘embarrassing’ number. Not sure how you come to that conclusion.

Why drop Zaka for the Richmond game? He was a steady ball winner for us yesterday? I understand the need to get games into the younger players, like Ham, but Zaka has improved every week and was our 7th highest possession winner and he used the ball really well. We still need him.

Zaha gave up multiple goals in the first half due to his turnovers, indecision and bad decisions. And killed momentum several times later. He plays like he’s following the Worsfold game plan.

I’d probably go Cahill for Zaha, Franga for Zerk, maybe Bryan or Draper for Waterman. Would be tough on Zerk and Waterman.

Not dropping Jones. He was due to be managed yesterday but had to come in to replace 2MP. If the strategy was to “rest” him a bit, then next week is the replacement, so not dropped, just managed. We must look after the young fellas. Most agree that young players need that break to avoid soft tissue injuries. He’s going to be great for years to come. Still advocating keeping Zaka but agree that will need to assessed after the Bye when we have a few more bigger bodies coming back.

I think Zaka just looks a touch out of sorts, like he’s slowed down just half a second in his decision making and it’s costing him.

Had some glaring clangers but was busy.

Part of zaka turnovers were on him with poor disposal.
the other ones he ran out of support he was last link in the chain, probably had no one to kick to and ended up getting hammered.

I thought the good was zaka got amongst it and got the ball.
if he tidys up his disposal he could improve our lineup. He also kicked a goal laid a few tackles and helped out defensively too.

They actually were good at stopping our game last night, so many times they clogged the centre and wouldn’t allow us to get our a run and handball going. We pressured the fck out them and grinded out the win

I’m looking forward to this clash. Tigers coming off a 6 day break and have to make the trip to Perth where we already are (after having to get to Sydney quickly).

Ham and Francis in for Zaka and Zerk (if he’s sore) for mine. I suspect it may be Laverde that goes to Riewoldt.
