I’ve got no problems with Goldy in. That’s life.
The rest is bullshit. If we are going to lose pump games into the kids.

I’m no Shiel fan, but he was never getting dropped this week, and nor should he have.
No team, ever, under any sort of situation, would have dropped him after the last two week’s games.
It was a biggest criticism of his time at north of I remember correctly
We ain’t losing!
I’ve got a pies mate (yeah I know…) who just put $50 on us to win. He said it’s worth paying $50 to beat us, and if we beat the pies the $200 win will make him feel better.
So much gloom in here!
Because we paid so damn much for him, dropping him would be an admission of disastrous failure, and the coaches and list management team won’t do that. Questions might be asked about ‘hey, what genius decided to pay this guy a million a year to run around in the 2s, hmmm?’
The SEH decision I can JUST about handle. The bloke needs a full game of footy, he’s been sub twice running. No point having him sub again.
Jones … sigh. I’m probably one of the few Jones believers still around on this site, and this decision does nobody any good, not even him. He trained on the wing all preseason, then abruptly got shifted forward and expected to hit the ground running, then finally found a bit of his forward line legs in the Melbourne game and all of a sudden oops, you;re a part time ruck now, never mind you’ve never trained there and are three inches shorter and 10kg lighter than everyone else. The bloke has put in some bad games this year, but jeez, we’re not doing him any favours development wise. We’re selecting four frigging tall forwards ffs, which is stupid even on a dry day. Is he going to play wing again? He’d do better in the 2s getting some confidence and learning to be the primary forward target.
Oh, and there’s no justification for not selecting Tsatas if he’s fit to play. Absolutely none.
But the bloke who handled contracts and saw him come in has moved on.
Rosa only got full reigns last year did he not?
I STRONGLY suspect that Scott has more than a bit of a say in our decision to pick McKay up. He knows the guy from Norf, after all, it’d only be logical. And it was very very clear that after the board upheaval and X getting turfed, that Dodoro was on the outer and Brad and co were making the real decisions.
Iam sorry but I don’t think you can use that excuse for jones he has trained plenty in the forward line and in regards to the height and weight thing it’s not even a arguement he was coming up against van rooyen most of the time and got belted
And Jones is no ruck, I 100% agree on that. Never trained there, no instinct for it, should not play in the position.
My point is. He’s not developing as a forward when we use him as a 4th tall in a topheavy forward line. He spent all the 2024 preseason training as a forward, and then promptly got moved to the wing. He spent all the 2025 preseason training as a wing, then got shifted forward. He’s been thrown all over the damn place and if he’s even going to have the SLIGHTEST chance of coming good, he has to get put in one position, kept there, and told to make it his own. And if that can’t happen in the ones due to team structure, it has to happen in the 2s.
I agree he needs to be settled but he has been given a lot of opportunity others don’t get it he needs to put the runs on the board one way or another instead of excuses.
I think it needs to happen in the twos and build confidence and earn a spot but Brad doesn’t seems to subscribe to the whole selection integrity thing
Jones has simply not shown enough to earn the privilege of a settled position at 24 years of age. He was developed and given good senior exposure earlier in his career, in his primary position - which was as a forward.
He is now in the departure lounge playing jack-of-all trades as he is shunted around filling holes- and clearly the end is near.
I agree that his current shifting role is not great for development, but tbh, he has been given decent chances to make a career for himself over 6 years and 50 odd games.
Yeah, not arguing there. I suppose the reasoning is that unlike Draper/Bryan, Goldstein will rest his ancient bones on the bench rather than in the forward line, presumably leaving 2MP to relief ruck. That takes 2MP out of the forward line, and Jones with hopefully be able to provide a tall target alongside the still-very-young Caddy and the 3rd-tall-sized Langford.
But of course, the onus is still on Jones to actually step up and provide that target…
I assume Wright will play ruck relief and jones will start as sub
Agreed, we are only in year 21 of the rebuild
So has this game been a 320 start for a while or is this a put the frog in the saucepan first and then gradually turn up the heat situation?
I think it has been.
Theres always a fair bit of Anzac stuff going on in the morning.
I seriously doubt this is a game they would ever play at night. It works because it’s a day game
Key match ups
McGrath - Hill
Redman - Elliot
Hobbs - Quaynor
Martin - J Daicos
Durham - N Daicos
McKay - Mihocek
Ridley - Membrey
Reid - McStay
Jones would be a terrible sub
Agreed, if Melbourne can drop bailey fritsch to the reserves, why can’t we with jones? It’s down to selection integrity and it’s something BS lacks, he’s got his favourites and will shoehorn them into the team regardless of form or structure.
