If there is a way to make our team older and slower, you can guarantee that’s what we will do.
No VFL on and not much there regardless given injuries
They’ll be looking for a response from majority of team
I’d expect it might be
OUT: Perkins (inj), Menzie …. Cox/Lav??
IN: Durham, Roberts/Tsatas …. Hayes??
Hind to stay in team albeit needs to not pass 25m out and open! Roberts/Tsatas sub.
Shiel isn’t ready yet, barely played over past year. He would have been handy if fit last night given we were getting done for pace on ball.
Going by what I have read here the Davey twins are not in the form required for senior selection.
Out - Perkins Menzies
In - Tsatas Shiel
Out: Menzies, Perkins and heavy training block
In: Durham, Shiel and freshen them up
Give Caddy a run- we need some inspiration.
Durham back will help too.
As for the rest - play better and atone yourselves
Blitz is such a happy place when you & I agree all the time and we’ve moved past the and
dust-ups.
We’re going to get cut up through the middle. Macrae will dominate. Liber will dominate. Bont will dominate. English will outplay whoever we play in the ruck.
That means Naughton and Jamarra are going have plenty of supply. Weightman will pick up any scraps.
We will struggle to score without a forward target to keep their lockdown defenders honest.
Their backline / midfield runners (Johannisen, Bramble, Dale and Daniel) will outrun our small forwards and midfield.
With Perkins out, his midfield time will need to go to Caldwell. We need his defensive intent against the Bulldogs. Setterfield must stay in the midfield too for the same reasons. Ditto Durham (if available).
Parish and Merrett need to split their time and be the attacking option at the centre bounce. Unfortunately, a lot rests on their shoulders.
Menzie has been well down on form, but needs to be persevered with for a few more games. He is close to getting dropped, but there isn’t much pressure from the VFL.
Same with Hobbs.
Same with Cox.
I think changes will be…
Perkins out injured for Durham (Tsatas if Durham doesn’t get up).
We may rest one of the ruckmen and play Weideman.
Hind may go out for Davey Jnr as the sub.
Would like to see Roberts, but I think he’ll be named as an emergency before getting selected.
Shiel not ready. Guelfi not ready. Ridley has a setback. Reid won’t be ready.
Caddy has barely run out a full VFL game yet.
Nick Bryan needs a block of games at VFL level.
Luol needs time. Ditto Hayes. Ditto Jayden. Ditto Vigo.
The Bulldogs strengths are our weaknesses. Our strengths that have troubled them when we’ve done well against them (tall leading forward target - Wright and backline intercept - Ridley) are out injured.
We’ll lose by 10 goals. Regardless of who plays.
Not sure why Scott dislikes Bryan. I really rate him. The Goldy/Draper combination is losing to the lone opposition ruckman. One, if not both, really need to be dropped.
I’d like to be able to say replace Laverde with Hayes but Hayes is weak and I think we need stronger players down back. Laverde is strong.
It always feels like we have 25 players on our list while teams like port struggle to fit everyone in.
Shuffle the deck chairs on the Titanic. Will be to no avail.
The good news is that Caddy and Robert’s should both debut next weekend.
I don’t care how many teeth or how “they are preparing Caddy for prolonged success”, he should come in for witches hat Menzie, the kid is mobile are can still apply forward half pressure.
Out: Menzie, Cox, Redman, Perkins
In: Caddy, Robert’s, Hayes, Tsatas
Hind back to sub.
Not sure how anyone can be botherd to turn up aginst Bulldogs after last night only going to leave the game disapointed, frustated and angry
Yes please!
B: Cox McKay McGrath
HB: Redman Laverde Martin
C: Duursma Merrett Roberts
HF: Durham Jones Caldwell
F: Stringer Langford Gresham
R: Draper Setterfield Parish
I/C: Goldstein Tsatas Hobbs Heppell
Sub: Hind
I’m still going to go.
I enjoy going to the footy. The result doesn’t fuss me that much. I mean, it’s nice when we win, but my day/night isn’t ruined if Essendon don’t play well.
I really think our super younger players should stay in the VFL for as long as possible. We have a league leading incredible VFL system in place, so they will have the best development opportunities that the VFL could offer.
We’re in a try and win now period, so no changes for mine, can’t unsettle the team too much in this vital year - apart from Perkins out, no need to replace him though, the young ones need to stay in the VFL.
Changes won’t make a difference
No changes for mine. Flog those ■■■■■■ on the training pitch and make them improve
Bring the mouth guards we go old school
Get them to repeat drills and they dont leave the hangar untill they get it right
Changes won’t make a difference. Bont, Liber, Treloar, Cody.
Lube up everyone.
Bont is the one that always kills us if we can stop him it will go a long way to beating them
We have to tag him last night was a good reminder of what happens when you leave an elite mid unchecked
