Changes: Round 3 Dogs

In fairness, 35 of those years featured Dustin Fletcher.

Ambrose and one of Ridley or Francis and our defense will look and play much better I think.

How far off is Paddy?

We should never have allowed fletch to retire.

Seriously, he was our best defender throughout to his last game and probably still would be.

Which is sad.

Some individual glaring mistakes aside, our defence looked bad because they were constantly under the pump via:

  • Turning the ball over in midfield & it coming back the other way
  • Turning the ball over in our fwd half and it coming back the other way

How good did our defence look last week? Brown and Harts were lauded, Hurley was able to mop up etc.

This was due to fact we were taking marks up forward or forcing contests and keeping ball trapped up there. This allowed our defence to setup effectively to help each other & not be all at sea.

Which is exactly what Freo was doing to us in this game.

We needed better ball use to pick our way through their press. And we needed to be smarter about how we went fwd when they were keeping their defence set with an extra most of the time.

Terrible ball use and decision making for the most part by majority of our team. Did not cope with the Freo manic pressure which they applied all game.

Smith one of the few noted by the commentators when he running fwd and saw no clear option kicked sideways cleverly to find someone. Footy IQ which is a rarity in our side. As per JD gaining possession on wing looking up blinkers on, seeing nobody and just kicking it out on the full !!!

Honestly this Guelfi love is driving me insane probably more than anything since I’ve joined Blitz.

WTF has he done to deserve to be anywhere near the side? Is it because most people haven’t had a look at him so they see him as some sort of pacey hard skilled inside outside gun?

no ones seen him because for some ■■■■■■ up reason the vfl season starts a month into the afl season.

Yet you were in favour of extending the coaches contract.

~ 3 or 4 weeks, I’d say.

lol@ trying to talk sense on Blitz after a loss
Just go with 'weak physically & mentally, millionaires, no Plan B and ‘don’t care about W.A’. You’ll get lots of ‘likes’.

Or if mcneice is fit he will come back in before baguely.

The big issue I have is why these problems continue to happen every time we step on a plane.

Any team can have a bad day. Our bad days are happing way to frequently

I still am. This has nothing to do with the coach. It’s been the same under Hirdy and Bomber. I have a theory that it stems from the ‘cuddling culture’ that resulted from the saga. But it’s only a theory.

Losing the game was the consequence of the team’s actions, and I’d like to think that most are expressing disappointment with the team’s actions.

Daniher and Hooker were wasted, one due to being constantly double-teamed (coaching issue that the box was apparently okay with) and the other due to ‘enjoying his football’, (I guess someone has to).
At a crucial point in the game, we pretty much threw away any chance we had because our captain either didn’t have the confidence or awareness to take an uncontested mark.
After not getting a possession in the first half(?), someone ran off Tippa.
I don’t know what the hell was up with Brown, he spoiled his own teammate twice in the first half.

I could go on.
But the point is that ‘Blitz after a loss’ is…silly.
There were, are, big issues with that performance.
People can see them, and are rightly pointing them out.

Care to share that theory? I am interested to hear you view on it.

I, also, could go on, and am at least as farking filthy as anyone else about last night.
And of course people can ‘point things out’. Whether that’s just ‘venting’, or actually
analysing the game logically and constructively is another thing and is debatable - a debate I’m not having.
I’m just ‘pointing it out’.

Dea’s 66% disposal contains at least 5 handballs to blokes in shocking positions, and often at their knees or behind them.
That’s after his stop start hesitations just to compound the error.
He tries but his disposal causes more issues than he saves

So, anyway…

I hope Fantasia will be fit.

I think he will be, and fark we will need him.
I’m tempted to (cue screams) move Begs to the centre, Langford to Hff, and have JoeDan chop TBell out in the ruck. Bring McNiece in for Brown.

defence looked great because there was noone to fkg defend

Has Francis been training every session? I don’t think he has played in the vfl praccy matches? Does anyone have an update on him or when we might expect to see him?
