Changes: Round 3 Dogs

Don’t forget “Shouldn’t have re signed the Coach”, “No Heart”, & “Hooker back!”

Blitz has resumed normal transmission.

Francis in to the backline is a priority. Still have his health as #1 but if he plays 2 good games in the 2s and is healthy just bring the fkn boy in.

When does the VFL even start?

This staggered VFL schedule is a real pita.

I’m not sure ‘unrealistic bandwagons’ is a topic you get to whinge about…

You’re being cute and all but I wonder if anyone has legitimately seen him play. Is he just awesome by virtue of being an unknown quantity? Sneaky edit was wise btw

Wasn’t a sneaky edit, just a clarification edit.

People wanting to have a look at a mature age guy we drafted, in a position we need strengthening, is hardly outrageous though.

Much of it is probably just a bit tongue in cheek, too.

That’s kind of my problem - I’m certain it’s not (could easily be wrong)

There’s a bit to like about him, though of course, he is no plug/play savior, despite knee-jerkers.
He has a nice size, he thinks about disposal, quite agile, decent speed, decent kick - has a good skill level at most things. Not sure if he has a big weapon.

You’re not wrong, but it does speak to the quality of our backline. We had similar problems with good opposition entries in 2014 (more to do with lack of pressure than turnovers, but the results were the same), and our forward line was spectacularly dysfunctional. Our backline was a huge part of what made us a finals side. Hooker, Hurley, Hibberd, and Baguley was a fantastic group defensively.

If our current backline was a really good group, they wouldn’t have looked great last night because of the reasons you outlined. They looked bad because they’re not very good and they didn’t get the help they need.

So for mine we definitely need to fix the things up the field in the short term, but I would just as importantly be looking for ways to improve the personnel down back (which is a longer term proposition).

Out: JoeDan - send a message to Joe and the whole team. Stop looking for free kicks and kick the goals when you get the opportunity. Last night he was in a pack of players, faked a push in the back when he should have held his position and brought the ball to ground. Result was a end to end goal for Freo. Joe’s first 2 games have been rubbish.
Out: Tippa. Looks completely lost with no real role to play. He can play VFL while the coaches think about it.

In: Smaller forward line, running to the ball not away from it and manning up opposition players.

If you’re not going to look after your toys then you can’t have them at all?

There’s no point dropping tippa or joe. Their form will change, although joe is utterly frustrating atm.

I honestly don’t see much change. Everyone was off. I’td be good to have a look at another kid Sooner rather than later IMO. I’d like to see Clarke get a run

Jeez it makes for a long week when you lose in such poor fashion.

Tippa is currently copping the defender and the defensive work and planning that usually goes into Fantasia.

It’s a step up.

We are going to put time into Johanisen this time aren’t we?

I can’t remember the last time we had a messiah playing in the twos or anyone remotely pressing for a game.

Too one dimensional at either end. Begely out for Raz. Brown, who I think offers more than Hartley but has had a couple of shockers out for McNiece, if not fit or then Ridley or Redman or Bags.
Tippa has only turned up for 1/4 so far this year to be pushed up the ground or defence earlier. Daniher needs to be spending more time in the ruck. Both need help to find form.

You’d hope so but I’m guessing the answer will be no! And he’ll kick 4 goals and have 30 possessions.

That would require structural changes. Will Woosha play the tall timber again when the Doggies have no recognised key position talls?

There is literally nothing that can be done to stop that.
