Really makes no difference. If you aren’t a good side media scrutiny doesn’t change that. Simple.
It does when you play Essendon, because we are also not a good side.
Yeah not sure about that. There have been plenty of examples where teams have responded after being under the pump. If the game was just about the team with the better players winning then I might agree with you but we all now the mental side of things is a massive factor in the AFL. Melbourne will 100% respond and I think they will beat us and reasonably well
Did Live Laugh Lav play forward in the VFL the other week or just standard undersized key defender role? I read he had been training forward before then
In terms of consistent output, Caldwell is our 2nd best player.
It’s a big loss that will likely hurt us against a similar ranked opposition.
Hobbs, Tsatas & Setterfield don’t come close to Caldwell currently.
They were all over Melbourne the week before as well.
Both teams haven’t travelled yet. This will be the first time. If we don’t beat another team this year it’s okay, as long as we give Melbourne another loss and keep them close to the bottom of the ladder to give us another high pick.
Still hot at 7pm there?
I think they’re playing poorly but I think they have more talent in their team than us. Don’t forget, we’re bloody ordinary too…
Both Thurs and Friday are 30s and Sunday is 32. So it will still be hot at night.
I’m more worried about us being asleep in the first quarter (having had the bye) and being 5 goals down. Only to wake up and play better than them and lose by 1 goal.
It should be a lot cooler. I stupidly thought we were the twilight game not the night game
We are going to win and it will be hilarious seeing some on here whinging that we won becuaee it will effect our draft posistion
Played in defence.
I think this is just the typical sports fan panicking against the upcoming team.
Melbourne were seeking redemption after the loss to North Melbourne. So I’m sure Gold Coast fans (if you can find them) had the same dread leading into their game. Especially as it was at the MCG instead of in Queensland.
After that smashing, Melbourne would have been seeking redemption again and I’m sure with Geelong’s recent form, their fans were dreading them even though it was a home game.
After that smashing, now it’s our turn.
The thing is, if we lose, it’s already set up for the ‘this club is farked’ stuff even though it’ll bring us closer to the number 1 pick which is pretty much what fans want to achieve. If we win, all that ‘pre-dread’ emotion will be ignored and it’s just another useless win against a weaker team. Close win and the ‘we have no killer’ talk will begin. Big win and the ‘this is a false dawn, why aren’t we tanking’ talk will begin.
If you look at it, the best case scenario is a draw. But I’m sure we can easily draw negatives from that result.
I’m not sure if we win this game. I’d say Melbourne’s ceiling is higher than ours (they’re top 5 or so selected players are a good quality) but their floor is lower than ours (mainly brought about by they’re bottom 10 selected players who are still developing). Form can change depending on effort levels. We’re coming off a bye, so we could start flat just like our games in the past aafter the mid season bye. We also have a forward group without any of our three best goal kickers of recent years still trying to work out how to keep isolated from each other but be close enough to offer help on the rebound. Melbourne generally have three or four players in their forward line that have been playing together for two years or more. I think this is a perfect 50/50 game. Strengths and weakness balance out, so it’ll depend on effort levels and how much longer a team to keep to their strengths across the game.
That isn’t relevant against Melb when we hold their 1st rounder !
I already have Al-Hawli in. So, who do you bring in to replace Prior?
Dees are in a ■■■■ pit
Petracca hasn’t played much
Oliver hasn’t played much
Gawn not rucking enough
Fritsch spare man for the oppo
No Lever, their other player Sparrow & Spargo whhere the ■■■■ are they?
The game might be set for 1 of their player to jumps us & do something, i doubt it.
And play in Adelaide. Peeps think they’re a shoe to win?
Available for us
Perkins, Tsatas, Wright, Parish
You would think we would be a bit more up & about.
We win the centre clearances & hit leading forwards, we win the game.
Well what we know is
Hobbs ticks over when we are winning
Tsatas is a clearance machine but poor disposal
Setterfield is a tackling machine but can’t get a match.
I would rotate all 3 on game day…gives each a go & tires out the Dees.
The Dees best chance of winning is to bring a side down to their level, and to be honest we are the exact side who are always susceptible to that happening.
Look no further than our loss to them last year as that’s exactly what happened that night, hopefully Scott and co have that in mind.
You can never take that flag off them, but to me they prob the worst side to pick one up in the last 25 years, their biggest flaw is thinking they had the list to pick up more.
