Changes vs Cats 2024

Well, it looks like Redman is all cleared to play. No MRO findings released today.

IN - Goldy, Gresham, Setterfield/Hobbs
OUT - Jones, Menzie, Kelly?

I don’t really want to omit Jones but they won’t omit 2MP and Caddy shouldn’t be dropped.

Not sure if they’ll drop Kelly but couldn’t think of who else they could omit. Maybe Hind? But I think Hind is more flexible to play different roles.

Think we should bring someone else into the midfield given our current clearance issue and play Perkins more in the forward line for now. He just isn’t having an impact currently.

One of either Kelly or Heppell must go. They were both dreadful yesterday with ball in hand.

We aren’t winning the flag this year so not much use giving them games.

Much rather give wanganeen or roberts a go off half back.

Clearly there is a need for some half back run and dash with Martin moving forward.

Got geelong, Collingwood and Melbourne in the next three weeks, got to win at least two of the otherwise were just repeating last year.

Kelly would be my out. He can defend, but he is too indecisive with ball in hand. He has limited foot skills and knows his limitations, which is why he goes for short chip kick. His kicks tend to float and hang in the air too long, he should never be the designated kucker coming out of defence. If no one is open he goes long down the line.

I think I have as much chance of getting in the team as Kelly does of being dropped.

Looking at tickets for this game and I dont think Geelong have any reserved seat members.

Practically all of Level 1 and 2 has been on sale.

WTF.

They aren’t getting the bus replacement between Geelong and South Geelong on a cold, wet Melbourne night to potentially see their team lose.

Yes, it’d be mainly their Victorian packages with seats.

They’ve sold at least 2/3 of ‘N’ and ‘P’ sections in the Warne and Olympic stands, and most of ‘N’ in Ponsford.

From what I can see Cats member reserved bays are 49-53, and an about 1/3 of N and P sections.

That means it appears that at least 60-70% of tickets sold to date would be Essendon fans. It will be a very pro Essendon crowd.

The pre-game debacle and then the performance from Heppell’s 200th game in Sydney two years ago still leaves a pretty sour taste.

I would like to think this week being the 250th is a chance to atone.

Geelong is slow. Bringing in some speed would be a good option, but form wise ? How are they tracking?

Hind will stay in the side because he is playing well and Scott likes him. Simple

Agree
Shiel or Davey - either?

The opposition give him acres of space also, because they know he won’t ever try a semi risky forward kick.

He needs to play on nearly everytime he receives a sideways chip kick, draw a defender and then release the ball.
These are not difficult things to do.

If we are serious on two rucks, Wright would be dropped for Goldy but most likely Caddy will and Jones for Gresham.

I hope if anyone has to get dropped for Goldy (who plays better sitting next to Scott), it’ll be Wright.

Jones won’t be dropped : he does what he’s asked to do. They might drop Kelly and move Jones to defence : I reckon he might make a classy CHB.

If anyone gets dropped for Gresham it’ll be Menzie.

I wonder if he could do the run with job on Stewart? Stewart is too big for Guelfi and Stewart would kill him in the air too. I think Kelly could keep him honest and ■■■■ him right off too!!

Guelfi has been playing on bigger players all year, the latest being McGovern on Sunday. While Jezza peeled off and took marks, Matt still impacted on the ground with a couple of goals. Kelly is not a proven goal kicker.

I feel like Kelly could do the job on Stewart.

Its not about kicking goals on him. Stewart sets up geelongs offense from the backhalf
