Fair call, I just think it’s worth the risk. I don’t think lav has the size or strength to hold his own against him one on one. I hope he can, if he does it will go a long way to us winning
Gold !

I think Lav has more body on body strength (and positioning skill) than anybody else on our list.
He’s our best match up for Hawkins, imo. Doesn’t mean he’s a good match up, just that he’s our best option.
With the wet we should play small
Run the ball out of defence. Hind would have been a decent in.
I’m not too sure about that.
On a dry day, his speed would be great.
On a wet day, it becomes more of a contested game of footy, than a free flowing running the ball down the field type of game style.
A ‘wet’ game would just throw us right out. We can’t really play the slow it down and hold possession play as our skills won’t be up to it. The long down the line kicks to a contest don’t help as we don’t have the talls to mark. Even bringing it down to ground wouldn’t help much especially if it forces a stoppage. The Geelong midfielders size would just overwhelm us.
I just don’t think we can use our speed as effectively in a wet weather game.
I don’t think we win this game. I expect another 5 to 6 goal loss (and that’s with Rids fully fit). Then again, that’s roughly what I thought the Port game would result in, so we might be able to bridge the gap and make a game of it.
Our best chance of containing Hawkins and Cameron with Lav and BZT is that the Geelong pair are so giddy with excitement from the prospect of this match up that they don’t get any sleep in the lead up to this game.
Ridley seems pretty determined and got some grit about him
Evident by fact he wanted to push through and return to play last week after being given the structural ok, but still ended up hobbling so they pulled him from game.
I’m expecting he will put his hand up this week even if some carry over soreness, may be up to our docs to sit him out for his own good. Then again maybe will prove he is good to go.
Weids down back and Voss in to help out 2m?
Not sure about being wet.1-5 mils MAYBE is hardly a wet track and not going to save us sorry, what will get us over the line is turning up, being switched on from get go, taking the game on aggressively, running them raggid over 4 quarter’s with contunual defensive pressure and EVERONE carrying their end of the log. No couple of light sprinkes of rain, fairy dust or direct line to Obi-wan Kenobi will do it for us.
Will this be the smallest crowd we’ve played in front of this year?
Likely ide say, and im.hopeful that due to stadium being well down on capacity that that equates to less home ground advantage and dare i say it a fairer run with the umpires. Unlikely but not being at capacity means less cats fans too
Will this be the smallest crowd we’ve played in front of this year?
Certainly Essendon supporters, training will have more supporters in attendance!
Will this be the smallest crowd we’ve played in front of this year?
Will be the smallest crowd since COVID. It will be an A-League blockbuster crowd.
Maybe Rohan will knock Hawkins out this week, never know.
We’ve got to take Danger out of the game. At least as much as possible. That’s a job for Calders and Archie… Because if we do we win.
I’ve got confidence if we win the CBAs and split the stoppages we’re just better than Geelong. Our back 6/7 are a good unit nowadays and win more than they concede.
Bring it on.
It’s all about pressure. Every team is susceptible to it, we just need to bring it from the first bounce and make sure we don’t relent.
Yes, but how would he go one on one with Chuck Norris?
Watch Tanner Bruhn kick 3 goals and have 20+possessions meanwhile Reid and Cox watch on.
A big issue with being Essendon is the media hype around all our games means that the really good teams get up for our games despite the fact that we are not a good team.
