I worry that’s going to be the excuse to drop Caddy, he had a player free in front of goal when he took the shot, and missed, in the first quarter.
That was Stringer and Stringer told him to take the shot.
Fark. People having a go at Stringer for being selfish and unselfish.
Consistently inconsistent.
My niece was responsible so I’ll take it up with her.
Aren’t ready is a significant step up from Cox Perkins and Wright.
Jye Menzie and Jayden Davey both kicked 3 goals in the reserves.
Time to throw caution to the wind and players prepared to put their bodies on the line. Couldn’t give a flying ■■■■ anout whether we make the finals or not. We’re obviously not ready and so use the remainder of the year to road test a few names then make a call on them at the end of the year.
Ins over the next week should include the Davey Twins, Roberts, Bryan, Wanganeen. No more time for 2MP until he can bag five in the VFL. Likewise Perkins, Gresham, Cox, Guelfi and Redman need some hard love and told you’re back to the twos and you don’t play senior footy again until you demonstrate a new found hardness and determination.
As a start, the team for Adelaide should be as follows
McGrath. McKay. Laverde
Roberts. Ridley. Kelly
Duursma. Merrett. Martin
Hind. Jones. Stringer
Davey J. Caddy. Davey A
Bryan, Durham, Caldwell
Setterfield, Hobbs, Tastas, Sheil
Sub Wanganeen
Slippery slope time. Pathetic effort when you come of a 8-day break and 2nd spot on the ladder was up for grabs. Absolutely disgusting group of players.
Wright has been crap the last month but should get a go at Marvel.
I would go
Out : Perkins
In : Hobbs.
Would also consider dropping Stringer and bringing in Setterfield. That won’t happen…
Not tsatas.
What it the living ■■■■ is this bullshit?
Why would we be huffleblow?
After losing such an important game yesterday, I don’t care about the ins and outs anymore. Just please win us poor supporters a big one vs the Crows ( 10+goals hopefully) for memory sake to tie us over the many lean years likely still ahead with this Club.
If the team has any pride what so ever they will smack the Crows by 10 goals.
Please Essendon make it happen
Hilarious.
If Essendon win next week it will be by about 10 points after leading the Crows by 30 points early in the last quarter.
Is either Davey a chance? We need a small forward in the worst possible way.
In the grand scheme of things the game last week really wasn’t that important.
We lost because we aren’t good enough and have no right to a top 4 spot.
Assuming we were good enough - the loss takes more importance… but we are still 2 points off second place.
It’s a disappointing loss because it’s a test we didn’t pass but it’s no more or less important than this week.
Chuck both of them in the side.
I honestly think we must persist with Caddy - he has only played four games. Let’s suppose it takes him 30+ games to produce consistently and at a high level. The longer we delay that, the longer it will take to get him there. He at least runs and tries. Tough ask for him in conditions like last night.
It might sound a little radical, but I’d consider dropping 2MP and have Caddy take his role. My biggest gripe with Wright is that he can’t clunk marks - it’s always 2-3 grabs. Didn’t take a single mark last night.
The other worry (other than our forward line) is our rucks. Draper was fine in the first quarter. After that, I felt he became too predictable and that the opposition capitalised on this. I think we need to seriously consider giving Bryan some game time to develop. Problem is how to do it - it is clear that if Bryan is our sole ruck, then it’s too big an ask from him. This creates a tricky situation where he will need some backup meaning that we play 2 rucks, which probably isn’t ideal. If we do go for 2, I’d be interested in your thoughts on who the second ruck should be.
This isn’t great for him
