Same, insanity to drop him imo
He had a poor game, it happens with inexperienced played
Keep playing him, he has shown he is good enough at this level. Give him confidence and back him in

Sharp is a test for this week.
I’d love to play him if fit but another week and the bye is a smarter move.
Agree.
I’d almost prefer to give it another week, but if he’s ready, I’d love to see him with Robey in the midfield for the majority of the game.
Only problem is, I’m not sure where Tsatas fits in.
Setterfield plays the defensive role and is a better matchup for Jack Steele to allow Robey and Sharp to cause Sparrow and Windsor matchup problems. Maybe Tsatas rotates with Robey and Sharp, but I think he’s more likely to get burned from his defensive running than Robey and Sharp.
Tsatas probably rotates with Setterfield and Setterfield plays defensively on Steel and Tsatas plays gambles more on the ‘first hands to the footy’ on Steele.
And that’s without considering we want Durham in the rotation as well.
It was almost easier to include Parish, rotate a spot off the bench between he and Tsatas and then rotate Robey and Durham through the midfield / forward line.
Sharp can wait a week or play some reduced minutes in the VFL. Absolutely no rush. Direct replacement for Setterfield when fit.
Sharp is ready to go.
That’s not a problem.
We’ll see if Solly agrees with you.
Someone is going to be played out of position and I’m not expecting Setterfield to be dropped. I’ll believe it when I see it.
I’m happy for Tsatas to be dropped for Sharp was my point.
Bit harsh on Harry in here. Harry plays important roles in the Bombers forwardline.

Standing on the mark
Chief hi-fiver.
He is elite at high fiving. In the the top 3% of AFL players.
Drop Zach for Sharp, beautiful.
In: Parish
Oit: Tsatas
Merret is still one of our best players, it would be stupid to drop him unless we want an excuse for getting smashed.
He played against WC even though he was unwell. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was still struggling with the effects of his illness. Despite that we was still in the votes. A star of our club he deserves more respect than he gets on here.
I bet Sharp wouldn’t have fumbled and squibbed that last center clearance
I think we persist with SEH for 1 more week and play him on a wing, and I’d like to get a look at what Gerreyn can do at AFL level - must be more than Jones so maybe just 2 changes -
OUT: Kondo, Jones IN: Ridley, Gerreyn
Ridley Reid Redman
Roberts Langford Farrow
SEH Robey Duursma
Perkins Gerreyn ADW
Caddy McKay HAS
Blaki Durham Merrett
Bench: Setters Tsatas Prior Cox Bryan
We need someone quick to pick up Kozzy.
Nguyen for me has to come in to help that situation. Very much want to include Sharp, but I’d go …
Ridley Redman Prior
Langford Reid Roberts
Duursma Duz ADW
Perkins Caddy Robey
Edwards McKay Huss
Bryan Setterfield Merrett
IC: Tsatas Nguyen Farrow Blaki SEH
Out: Kondo, Jones, Cox
In: Ridley, Nguyen, Edwards
Edit: forgot Nguyen was suspended..
Kondo or Cox stays in
I’ve got Kozi in supercoach, I think we go head to head with him tbh.
No McGrath who do we have with that speed to go with him.
I would go left field and maybe put Archie Roberts on him everywhere.
I can’t see Sharp playing this week, if he does, it will be restricted in the VFL.
As for the Tsatas question when Sharp’s back, I don’t see that as a problem.
To me, the problem arises when Durham, Robey, Sharp, Tsatas, Caldwell, Parish & Setterfield are all available. Merrett seems to be earmarked for a HBF, so that’s one problem solved.
Back to the mids……
Durham & Robey are strong & dynamic and both can play up forward, so they would be a good rotation.
Sharp, Caldwell, Tsatas & Setterfield are all extractors and all are not overly strong in other positions. To me, Sharp & Caldwell, when 100%, are the first choices. Setterfield, although a limited kick, is still handy defensively and this would give him an edge over Tsatas, whereas Tsatas has youth & is a natural ball hunter. If Tsatas learns to defend he would be the natural choice out of these 2.
Parish is more the accumulator and he does this well. It is his disposal and defensive efforts that let him down. At 28 can he overcome these shortfalls?
The other players no one is mentioning are Roberts & Johnson. I can see a potential midfielder in both, possibly next year, but, we could take a better look later this year (Johnson fitness pending), both have shown they can accumulate and we have an abundance of HBF’ers, when they are all fit.
Back to topic, Solomon has already stated he is looking to next year, this gives him a real license to take a lot of liberties with the players positions & the game plan around them. He has already shown his hand with McKay, El Hawli & Reid forward.
Nyugen suspension is a real frustration as we are missing Kako. With McKay forward I can’t see Gerryn getting a look this week and I don’t think he’ll drop Jones for Edwards after one game.
I see Ridley as the in with either Kondo or Redman being the out. Redman definitely didn’t look 100% to me last week, although, maybe he was just being eased back.
Its great to have players coming back from injury and having some selection pressure finally
Agree, there are options.
Whilst I agree with this, I think the split with these two should be more midfield time than forward time. Even though they can play elsewhere, I think Solly will go for a win for team morale. The players desperately need it and will be forced to earn it. I don’t think we’ll shunt these two just to force others in to their best position.
Choose to think however you want…
But when I say, the problem is when others are back, it’s more of a coaching point of view. This statement to us who can’t stand anyone over 28 years old makes sense. But a coach will play Parish ahead of Tsatas. I won’t claim this is a Brad thing until I see Solly not follow that pattern.
IMO, the best most balanced midfield we can put on the park is Durham, Caldwell, Robey and Sharp. Those four can run both ways and should be prioritised. They will have 5 years of their career together to grow cohesion. I don’t see the need to grow that cohesion on the forward flank or elsewhere. They all need to grow cohesion with Bryan who is also looking like being there for the next 5 years.
After that is where I step away from my opinion. That’s where Parish, Setterfield and Tsatas come in to play. For most, it’s Tsatas ahead of the other two. But I’d say the coaches will lean towards Parish ahead of the other two. I agree that Setterfield is there for his defensive work at the stoppage, so he’s more circumstantial. Although Solly did play him off a wing against the Eagles when the matchup wasn’t quite there, so where he’s played isn’t just a Brad thing. I think two of these can rotate off a bench spot. We did that earlier in the year (it’s one of the reasons why TOG% is down on Durham, Parish and Caldwell) but I’m sure you can’t play all three.
So, in short, injuries are making the decision easier. Caldwell and Parish are out so you can rotate Setterfield and Tsatas off a bench spot through the middle. Robey and Durham will have their time in the middle prioritised and rotate off the forward line.
I think if Sharp is ready and he shows it at training, he’ll play. Again, I don’t think it was just a Brad thing, but the rest of the coaches want him in too. So if he trains well, I think he plays. And I think Sharp wants every opportunity to play and not just have a token VFL game, then wait a fortnight for his next opportunity. He’s not that kind of player.
We’ll wait until tomorrow and see how it goes.
