I was basing this on Ridley, declared ready a week before he played, then the VFL & definitely AFL this week.
Sharp is younger & without the history, but, I don’t think they will risk him. As you said tomorrow night we will all know.
Just on Parish & Tsatas, I think Solomon will be dictated on our thoughts of keeping them or trading them off next year. Unless the new coach is Hird, I doubt they will be in a place to influence these decisions.
I’m all but certain Merrett is gone, Ridley likely gone. Parish, Redman, Langford & Tsatas will be an interesting watch. For this reason I think it will be very interesting how Solomon approaches the rest of the season, both selection & on field structure wise.

Whatever they think will occur with these players next year, I doubt they’ll be dropped to the VFL for a sustained period of time. The closest to it is they’ll be shunted into other positions and others prioritised within the team. That’s pretty much what has occurred this year with most of the oldies (incl Durham, Duursma and Caldwell) being shifted elsewhere.
But there’s only so much of that shunting you can do within the team. And it certainly isn’t a great recipe to remain competitive.
I wouldn’t read too much into whether we want [insert player name] here or not next year. We played Lual off the wing last year and he improved pretty well across that time. Hobbs got games too. You could add Goldy and Laverde as well too. You could include Shiel in there too for some periods of time. But all of them were delisted .
In that aspect, the interesting watch is Gresham. In the past, as long as the player performed in seniors, it was honoured so he could meet the trigger (Stringer), but Gresham hasn’t had that. And interestingly, he’s only played one VFL game. It’s pretty clear we don’t want him, but also it’s clear he doesn’t want to bother with VFL either. So he’ll likely be the emergency again, but this time VFL play on Sunday at Casey. We’ll see if he plays that game, because not even Melbourne AFL players enjoy getting out that way, let alone other team’s AFL players.

I think it’ll be Setterfield. He doesn’t have the speed but he does have the concentration to not get caught ball watching instead of focusing on Pickett.
If he gets burned on open play because he can’t keep up, fine. But he should be able to negate Pickett’s spread from stoppages.
I’m surprisingly keen for the team to come out tonight. Really hoping for some common sense moves after last weeks showing.
I’d love to see Sharp but I feel he’s VFL with managed minutes into the bye.

Patrick Ryen reported that Ridley and Clarke did a session yesterday so I’d assume they’re on their own programs.

If anyone offered me 100-1 odds and a chest filled with gold for Ridley to remain injury free for the rest of season I wouldn’t take it! I think he’s capable of ripping his calf in half just from squatting on the ■■■■■■■!

but the guarantee of a chest filled of Gold would be worth plenty.

Honestly though its time he looks in the mirror. A physio at the club has said, he isnt great at following his rehabilitation program. Still goes off site ala the parish did. Yet apart from his knee parish has been durable this year
