Dons by 74.
anyone worried by the last 2 games and how we ended last year?
Do you think the club has done enough so we dont drop off so heavierly like last year? and the last 2 weeks where just bad entries, bad forward set up?
Yes.
I’m going to give you 7/4 odds that he won’t be dropped
Essendon has more senior players for its best 22 and the younger players have done another preseason.
Also think whilst not as good as the swans getting two mid season byes to have one now will freshen us up.
(Having a bye at round 5 and then round 12 is perfect to maintain peak performance over starting the season one week late and only getting round 12/13)
We will be better for the rest for the next month of footy
Yeah, he was awesome earlier in the season but it’s damning when your opponent is in the best two or three players each week.
I’d be very, very suprised if he was retained with the ins
If we can’t dominate the centre when their midfield is Flynn, Yeo, Ginbey, Petracelle, Duggan, Jones we are not a serious football team.
IF Draper doesn’t come in, could have seen Flynn be BOG.
Eagles have speed (Petrucelle + Hunt), but should lack numbers in midfield when YEO and Ginbey get tired.
I Like our lineup - Perkins on a Wing, hopefully he starts there.
Settled back 6.
Caldwell, Durham, Merrett probably our best on ball brigade this year.
Should have named Jones CHF, but I would prefer Caddy comes in and Jones goes out.
My guess for 3 outs from bench Kelly, Menzie, (hopefully Jones) if not likely Caddy
I don’t think 50/50 is that far off tbh
We never play 4 qtrs against the bottom teams. We normally win the game with a strong 20min burst
Our goal kicking is abysmal
Our forward line is very dysfunctional
We are stronger and they are weaker, yet it was the same case when we played them, north and Richmond earlier in the year
I haven’t been more confident of a win leading up to a game since the game vs Brisbane at Marvel in 2017.
Agree, after seeing him in match sim he offers a bit on a wing or half back. Kelly may be earmarked for Liam Ryan who may be too clever for Menzie who is learning the caper down back but if used as a defensive winger Menzie has him covered and then some
Pretty much disagree with your whole post.
The Eagles away from home are awful.
We had a couple of poor weeks in front of the sticks whereby multiple players had off kicking days at the same time.
It happens.
Credit the opposition’s defence for forcing us wide.
2mp and Langford are fantastic set shots.
Stringer generally good barr a couple of minor periods of the yips.
Gresh, Perkins & Martin all good, Jones reasonable.
We are lacking some forward connection ATM, which is fixable.
It’s not close to 50/50, and I’m baffled how scarred a supporter must be to convince themselves of this !
That is completely fine. I do agree that the Eagles are horrible away from home
Langford is a very good set shot
Wright is good, but he actually has to mark the ball first in order to have a shot
Gresham is bang average when having shots at goal
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and suggest whoever is playing on Laverde.
Stringer from the boundry 50 out is a good shot.
I don’t support or condone gambling but if this one is 50/50 then load the ■■■■ up on WC as they’re $6.05 to win
I agree Menzie should be dropped. Surely he is in the squad as a small forward, so the fact that he had a good game at half back doesn’t keep him in the game now that Redman is back.
I was a big fan of Menzie last year, but I have been frustrated with his set shots this year. It really kills us if he misses from straight in front, 30 metres out, like he did in the opening minutes of the Carlton game (and in 2 earlier games this year, IIRC).
Any good small forwards becoming free agents at the end of this year?
STENG
It’s definitely not 50:50 (I think to suggest so is disingenuous) but I’m not sure it is the slam dunk that many think it is. Their team is looking much healthier than it has in the last 12 months.
I’m terrified of our form coming off the bye. We were appalling in the equivalent match last year which was admittedly harder. I think it almost helps that we are coming off a couple of losses which I’d hope the team would want to atone for.
