Changes vs Richmond pt 2 - apparently this is no longer the Game Day Thread

Gee, I’m sick of hearing all of this rubbish about tanking.
It’s bad enough putting up with it on here, now 1 or 2 of the media flogs are mentioning it.
You try telling 8 or so kids to go our and not try, particularly when some have their careers on the line.
Watch Caddy, Kako, May, Merrett, Durham, Caldwell, Clarke, Roberts, Johnson, Lav & even Goldy last week and tell me they were tanking.
It will be great for the kids to play in a winning side some haven’t done it.
We also want outside players we might target to see we are improving and have a bright future and positive attitude.

6 losses in a row haven’t won a game in over a month.

Last realistic chance for another win this season is against the Tigers.

After that 4 games of absolute beltings before the usual final last couple of pathetic finishes.

I think we can beat Carlton but yeah seems Richmond the only one. After Tigers the next 4 are

Giants
Dogs
Swans
Cats

fml could legit only have 2 wins since Dreamtime by the time the season ends

I think we are a big chance against St Kilda & Carlton, biggest risk is if the kids really tire badly.

If Pete needs a rest then fine, if he doesn’t it’s tanking. If Pete’s fit he should play imo.

You’re like my 12 year old wanting to rush straight to 7-11 after he receives pocket money to waste immediately.

Think longer term. You’ll feel great for a couple of days after knocking off arguably the worst team in the competition by a few points but then reality hits.

There are smart ways to tank. I know we were already awful enough but reckon we’ve been doing it since the Bulldogs game. The problem we have is our rivals around us on the ladder are doing similar.

You saying WC and Tigers are tanking come off it the teams around us are genuinely crap no tanking needed.

Teams don’t go out there to deliberately lose. Foolish suggestion.

Giving players longer injury time off, lack of tagging in games, experimentation with positions and the list in general…

You don’t have to be Einstein to manipulate a loss. Especially when you’re already pretty awful to begin with.

Ummm no.

Rotating your team, giving players an opportunity who are performing at the next level, etc is not in any way tanking. All good teams do it.

Instructing the players to lose is tanking.

Didn’t Melbourne try to do that and got caught

When you are dumb and the basket case they were between 2007-2013, they deserved everything they got.

Loose lips sink ships.

It’s tanking if the purpose is to make the team perform worse imo. Pete’s in our best team so he should play to give us the best chance of winning.

Wright generally has the best defender on him so it does help Caddy when he plays.

They were found not guilty. Yet received fines and suspensions.

Work that out.

If there was like a “Harley Reid cup” worth tanking for then yeah maybe you would entertain it.

Reckon it matters zilch if we win lose or draw to ladder positions vs Richmond.

Richmond are finishing 17th.

We may as well beat them.

As I think we won’t win many more after.

Moving to 7 wins when we might only have one left in us after is still gonna make ours a top 5 pick.

I would like to beat Richmond for a few reasons

It’s nice to watch a win in person

Richmond fans are flogs, so I would like to ruin their night and weekend

We have developed a nice little winning streak against Richmond, I would like it to continue

We have two games left I think we have a sniff in.

Richmond and Carlton.

Winning both would put us on 8 wins.

That would have been pick 4 the last 4 years. And with our percentage?

I can’t see us rising too far up the ladder.

We aren’t beating Sydney at the SCG, Dogs at Marvel, Suns at the Gold Coast, Cats at Kardinia park. I mean they are some of the hardest games in the comp. Not this year
