I suspect Duursma will be tasked with a negating run with role on Wanganeen-Millera, who is lighting it up at the moment. It will involve a lot of defensive running without reward, but someone will need to do it to curb his NWMās influence.
He was. They showed him on 7 news yesterday when the players arrived back.
Ankle issue. News said weāre still hopeful that heāll play.
Thereās no doubt heās small, but not that small.
That gave me a chuckle after a rough day, thanks.
Is this the Essendon spread?
Looks a tad plain
. Assume 2MP gets 2 weeks.
. Doubtful Rids will get up.
. Hoping McG is OK to go.
. Rather than Harry or Weid, Iād give Cox the job to slot in for big Peter. Brad can move the magnets down there as the game unfolds anyway.
. Hepp wonāt be dropped though ā¦
So Iād think something like this as a 23
B McG McKay Heppell
HB Redman Lav Martin
C Duursma Merrett Durham
HF Perkins Cox Gresham
F Caldwell Langford Stringer
R Draper Setterfield Parish
IC Goldstein Hind Hobbs Kelly
Sub Tsatas
Out 2MP Menzie ADJ
In Kelly Parish Redman
If McGrath misses, for Godās sake please play Kelly as a lockdown small defender, the only role he can actually play.
On triple m just before they played a clip from a St Kilda player (missed the name) saying that theyāre preparing for an aggressive Essendon and will be ready for them.
The AFL world is insane. Weāve literally been considered soft marshmellows for 20 years and all it takes is one game and a big hit from our forward to suddenly shift our entire persona to the āBullyāsā and āAggressiveā. If I didnāt love Essendon so much I wouldnāt waste my time with this stupid competition.

No more McGrath or Heppell kicking out after a point please.
Heppell kicks the biggest ā ā ā ā ā ā ā loopy lollipops. Zero penetration to his kicking.
As they should. Look, I love this more aggressive Essendon, we all do. But Essendon did put it out their last week via its media conference and have arguable not quite got the balance right, seen via suspensions to Wright, Redman and undisciplined acts from Draper and nearly Hind. Finding the balance is the thing from here.
But the media have taken this because Essendon put it on the agenda. Itās a reasonable discussion point in light of a few incidents that suggest the balance isnāt quite right yet. So, the Saints will be up for the fight and itās Essendon who have created the discussion and focus. But in the long run, Essendon is addressing a major weakness and in the end itās absolutely doing the right thing and what happens in the short term is simply another example of āgrowing painsā that are inevitable for this group going on a new journey together. Embrace the hate!!
For me It was a standout difference between the 2 teams. The Swans backs kick low, hard, accurate darts across 45ā that are hard to intercept or spoil. We had Hind, McG, Hep kicking loopy balls that they telegraph. Itās like optic fibre email versus a Cobb & co stagecoach.
Lots on here picking Ridley as an IN. Iād say itās highly unlikely and unrealistic to think he will play seniors this week. Iād say a half in the VFL next week is more likely; see how he pulls up then a full game in VFL for gather round. Back for round 5 maybe
The worst part is, its not like we did all these ādirtyā things and then lost the contest. We were +10 in clearances. We wanted to be tough at the contest and we were.
At this point, just go 1 and 5 if need be, as long as all of Parish, Ridley, Wright, Guelfi, (and maybe even the mythical creature Reid) are back available for ANZAC Day and we finally beat those pr”cks!!

have arguable not quite got the balance right, seen via suspensions to Wright, Redman and undisciplined acts from Draper and nearly Hind. Finding the balance is the thing from here.
Iād rather err on the side of coming out too hard and copping a few suspensions than err on the side of safe and soft.
The Hawks lost the line in the sand game, but arguably it was the start of a mindset that lead to them dominating the comp.

Weāll win.
And the talk in here will shift to making finalsā¦
Wait for it.
We will lose by 30+ points
If Ridley is fit, he comes straight into the AFL.
Heās in the Merrett, Parish, Langford group - they play AFL or they are not playing at all.
I love the aggression and I didnāt mind losing last week because we were at least finally ruthless in the contest.
But just like everything Essendon, I wait with bated breath because weāve shown glimpses of change in the past to only falter back to our typical ways.
I donāt think we can consider Essendon to have an āedgeā or be regarded as a physical football side until we see some consistency.
