Changes vs Ross Lyon football

Ins caddy roberts the big vig.

If there’s one thing for certain in this game it’s that Cal Wilkie will be allowed to do as he pleases back there and take intercept marks on repeat.

our mids and fwds are really, really bad at contested marking.

we slow right up before entering our f50, giving opposition time to get back in there and outnumber in the contests. we then don’t have proper crumbing forwards to kill the ball when it inevitably hits the deck.

then when the dump kick comes out from their defence our mids are at best beaten in the air, and at worst nowhere near the fall, so oppo mids get to do whatever they want.

no back 6 on the planet can do anything about that.

Oh yep.

They will have about 1000 intercept marks.

I guess that’s the silver lining with Peter missing, we won’t just bomb it to the top of the square; we’re a bit less predictable

I mean we did actually have a plan for Sicily who would have typically done the same.

Only problem is that plan is on the injury list.

Exactly

In - Parish, Ridley, Redman, Kelly, Caddy

Out - Wright, Heppell, Laverde, Menzie, Davey Jnr

Archie Roberts though i wouldn’t mind handing a debut sooner rather than later also.

BTW, what happened with Shiel on the weekend?

My biggest concern with your post is that it’s true - our plan to stop opposition offensive transition from our forward line is entirely dependent on Jake Kelly.

Don’t replace Wright with another tall like Jones or Caddy.
It’s an opportunity to take a look at a different forward set up, and hopefully get some more pressure in the front half. Both Hawthorn and Sydney ran the ball out far too easily. Give Draper more time forward and ruck Goldy.
With Parish back in, give Perkins more time forward.

Gresham Perkins Caldwell
Langford Draper Stringer
Hobbs rotation.
Menzies seems out of form, down on confidence, perhaps needs a run in the 2’s. Stringer on Rampe, at least in the second half, did not work, and Rampe had an increasing influence throughout the second half as 3rd man up or interceptor. Do not play Stringer on Wilkie. Perhaps give that role to Caldwell, or Langford.

Saints at the moment are down on small defenders with no Paton and Webster. Stocker is a reliable enough defender but I reckon we could expose Bonner if he is stuck one on one. I feel like the Saints will kill us on the spread, just like the Swans last week. Hope Duursma takes Brad Hill’s wing and hope there is a focus on limiting Wanganeen-Milera’s handball receives.

Don’t worry Guelfi will be back in the forward line soon …

Is Mc Grath in doubt? Heard he was sighted in a moon boot?

stomach strain? or thinks he’s too good for VFL football.

It"s probably written in his contract that he doesn’t play vfl

Duursma or kelly should play a defensive role on wanganeen milera

Actually Kelly as a half forward probably wouldn’t be as bad as Kelly on a wing. He is quick, defensive, discipline and can’t ■■■■ the ball movement as much when it’s closer to goal. Plus our defensive pressure is horrendous, so he could help out.

Note: shouldn’t be in the side anyway, but if he is, it might not be as bad as on the wing or defence where you need to move the ball quickly and it could help address a glaring issue.

Well, it depends on which camp you’re in.

Choose one:

  • Club is not taking chances and playing someone they feel isn’t up to it.
  • Player doesn’t really care and because of outside investments, is taking it easy.

if he doesn’t play this year, he most likely won’t be on the list next year if history is anything to go by.

No more McGrath or Heppell kicking out after a point please.
McGrath 's dinky 15m kick, runs past for handball, runs in to trouble because the oppo know exactly what he is doing, panics and then blazes away. Sometimes I think he is just stats padding.

Absolutely amateur effort. One metre out. Have to nail it. It cost us.
