Are you the tea lady or chair of the selection committee?

You treat us well bomberstan, but soon we will become dissatisfied and demand the changes even sooner.

I appreciated your joke davethedon

If Ridley is injured, then Francis is the obvious replacement. No team are easy beats. Bombers must go flat out, using their speed and ball skills to win on Friday. North will come after Essendon and try to nullify our strengths. Four points on Friday are the same as on Anzac Day. Our play against Melbourne and Brisbane was very good. This is way Essendon must perform EVERY GAME. Take the foot off the pedal, drop 10% in intensity and we’ll get beaten.

Fresh legs ready to play

Four Bombers are set to be made newly available for selection this week ahead of Friday’s Kick for the Kids game against North Melbourne.

Star forward Joe Daniher leads the quartet having overcome a minor calf injury that delayed his long-awaited return.

Club physical performance manager Justin Crow said no previous injuries have resurfaced throughout his latest rehabilitation and he confirmed Daniher will be fully fit to either take the field in the AFL at Marvel Stadium or the VFL at Avalon Airport Oval on Saturday.

“Joe’s completed his calf rehabilitation. His groins and his back have been good over the last few weeks, so he’s available to play,” Crow said in the SKINS Injury Update on Tuesday.

“The next step is in our match committee’s hands about the best way to take him forward.”

Young Bombers Jayden Laverde and Brandon Zerk-Thatcher suffered similar ankle injuries in the VFL side’s practice match of the pre-season three weeks ago, but both are expected to return this weekend.

“Both Jayden and Brandon have had good rehabilitations from their ankle sprains with the VFL bye last week,” Crow said.

“Both of those players trained well today and will be available for selection this week.”

Jake Long rounds out the likely returnees after training well and proving he has overcome the minor shoulder injury that has kept him on the sidelines since the same pre-season game.

Jake Long is ready to return this weekend.

Crow said experienced midfielder David Myers, although sporting visual evidence of a nasty kick to the face suffered against Brisbane, will be fine to take on the Kangaroos, while fellow on-baller David Zaharakis will be tested this week after sustaining a cut to the knee.

“We had a couple of lacerations out of the game, both needing stitching.

“Dave Myers has three stud marks across his face, but he is okay.

“David (Zaharakis) had quite a deep cut into his knee, which we’ll be monitoring through this week.”

David Myers suffered a nasty injury against the Lions last week.

Key forward James Stewart still has boxes to tick as he rehabilitates a minor groin strain, but Crow is hopeful he can be back available soon.

“James has been a little bit slow early, we’ll run him once he’s completely symptom-free and we’re hoping to do that later this week.”

With just Shaun McKernan and Kobe Mutch joining Stewart on the sidelines, Crow said the club is pleased with the overall availability of the squad ahead of a busy schedule in the next three weeks.

“We think we’re able to put a good, fit team on the park,” he said.

“We’ve got the two six-day breaks coming up, so we’re working hard on our recovery to make sure we put in a good effort for both of those. “

The first bounce of the Kick for the Kids game is set for 4:20pm on Friday.

Get them in: Joe Daniher is available for selection after that pre-season calf injury, but whether the Bombers play him in the VFL or AFL side is now the question. The Bombers dropped Aaron Francis last week but with the club’s VFL side having the bye, he had no chance to impress. Kyle Langford and Matt Guelfi will also be considered.

Under the pump: Mark Baguley hasn’t picked up many touches this season – averaging fewer than nine disposals and 2.5 tackles – but he has kicked a goal in all four games in that pressure forward role.

Medical room: Daniher is the big watch here and how the Bombers handle that. Martin Gleeson (ankle) is getting back to full fitness and will be a welcome addition to the half-back line when he’s got enough VFL performances under his belt. David Zaharakis copped a knock to his knee against the Lions but was a key performer.

Verdict: The Bombers could go in unchanged after a very strong performance against Brisbane last week. All will depend on what they want to do with Daniher, and they must take into account the short break before the round six clash with Collingwood. - Callum Twomey

I’d be thrilled if we worded up Messrs Goddard, Watson, Lloyd to talk about Brown so he doesn’t get a free this week.

Doubt it though.

what he has done is let every essendon supporter know about Brown being a diver, and if he does it and gets a free, there will be a massive Boo from the crowd.

I’d give Joey a run in the VFL and then bring him in for ANZAC Day. It would mean just the 5 day break but he should manage if we only play him for a half or so.

T-Bell on the other hand I think needs a rest and we’ll want him at 100% for ANZAC Day against Grundy.

This week:
Out: Bellchambers
In: Draper

With an aim to bring in Daniher & Bellchambers for Z Clarke & Draper the following week.

Interesting to see what happens with Francis, actually. I really don’t think we can fit him into the same backline with Hurley, Hooker & Ambrose already there.

If they were playing Daniher on “managed minutes” round 1 there’s no reason why they won’t do the same this week, probably at the expense of Clarke. I like that Clarke is mobile/moves well around the ground, fast, good reflexes and competes well in the ruck. Also, the 2 ruck combo gives Essendon an edge against teams running solo rucks, another reason for him to play. If they go with 1 ruck… Clarke’s a better option considering TBC’s timing is off. Oh, and the other reason why Daniher is a cert Friday? Players will be wearing black armbands for the passing of his grandfather. There’s no way he’s missing that…
