Climate Change in Australia (Part 2)

Yeah, they won’t. Very popular for holiday homes and retirees.

Yeah…the one thing that Perth will never run out of his land…and yet developers and greedy local governments have been able to turn the old quarter acre block into things resembling postage stamps.

No room for trees, garden beds, outdoor areas for kids to play in, pools…anything outdoors in general.

It’s an absolute disgrace.

And I realise that we don’t need quarter acre blocks anymore, but terrace style housing is ridiculous and simply a means for developers to make more money…and then local councils to get more in rates. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

That’s Australia wide. Crammed in, identikit, high fenced and somehow more anti-community than if they were 30 metres divided. It’s a grand country if you’re in the exploitation industries.

You still get a good whine from it though…

Gardens are great for older people, a nice hobby when they have plenty of time. rather than just sitting inside all day watching screens. encourages them to get vitamin D and gives them something to create, have pride in and also even supply fruits/vegies for grand kids. IMO it helps them live longer and be active/mobile and stay in home longer.

700-800m2 is a big enough block.

400m2 less is a bit of a dog box.

A lot of blocks over here are now around 250-300m2…even blocks in coastal suburbs.

It’s ridiculous.

Are we at the point where we just ignore climate models? I mean, they can’t take feedback loops into account and most have been way off. We were supposed to be cooling off a bit now post El Nino, but we are maintaining temps way above 1.5⁰C. Really, anything could happen in the next 5 years.

Much worse than that on this issue. When it comes to the environment. Labor are the gaslighting masters.

It would be easier to overlook some of Albo’s other failings if they could at least get this one half right.

It would be.

sigh
It’s the “drug dealer’s defence”.
That is, if Australia didn’t export coal, other producers would take our place.
Most of the coal unlocked by Plibersek’s decision will go overseas, given NSW exports 85% of its coal to partners such as Japan, China, South Korea and Taiwan.

No, Blitz didn’t tell you that.
