It’s time to be bold!
I think we adopt the Camel as our mascot like the Katherine Camels
But we avoid any copyright issues by branding it as
The Essendon Humpers
We could even have the by line
“We’re here to Fark Carlton”.

The media have taken this and found the most negative spin on it imaginable, which I’m not surprised about because kicking EFC has become a sport this past decade. And who do you go to if you want a negative headline re EFC? Allan Hird is just about top of the list. I’m OK with looking at a new logo in isolation, but if that coincides with trying to disassociate ourselves with the Bombers nickname at all because some soy latte sipping marketing they/them thinks that the term Bombers is offensive and we pander to a 0.01% minority, then yeah I’ll lose my ■■■■.
Well said
Yes…
Oh course…
We also haven’t built underground tunnels to hold children.
Yet…
Wrong colours
You and WOB have summed it perfectly
Not exactly a bomber but it’s still pretty lethal.
And Australian, unlike tigers, lions and blues (wtf is that?).
it’s all just rubbish reporting to elicit a stupid emotional reaction (it’s the Blitz way).
no one swallows rage bait whole like essendon supporters. it’s not even close.
sen and the sun could call up every supporter and tell them that they made the story up and there would still be a thousand “but what if they went ahead anyway???” posts
Would be appropriate because the women are good and impressive and the men are kinda ■■■■.
Yep.
They know their audience.
Would bomberblitz need a new name as well?
Hilarious how the Herald Sun runs with a non-event news story and then sees it as the perfect segue to a hit job sound bite from the hater-in-chief, Hird Senior, about how the club is “rotten to the core”.
The HS were also the organisation that first ran with the Thorburn story that morphed into an absolute debacle.
Any Essendon supporter with any clue should be boycotting this newspaper as it appears that they have an agenda that runs counter to the best interests of the club.
Rename us;
We’ve already got our first banner written after the change. Which will also educate the younger ones.
Give us a Mexican theme. Team song can be the three amigos, then get those seppos back that Rudd got to fix Telstra.
Then build a wall in our forward 50 to stop the thing getting out.
We’re going to build a wall and make Fark Carlton pay for it.
Allan Hird is a fkn idiot, who is a embarrassment to the club
Just wanted to say that
For anyone who is in need of a laugh, Allan Hird article posted here:
Bombers branding least of the club’s problems
If the Bombers believe changing the logo is more important than fixing the rotting at the club’s core, what hope have they got for a flag anytime soon.
The Dons looking at changing its logo to suit the Zeitgeist ignores the club’s history and those brave men and women associated with the club who fought for our country in WWII.
But the club’s brand matters little in the scheme of things when one understands the rotting at the club’s centre.
Essendon was a club to be feared until 2007 when it decided to sack Kevin Sheedy, our best coach ever, to chase Michael Voss – and ended up with Matthew Knights.
Then, during the infamous drugs saga where no player ever tested positive and evidence was fabricated, what did the club’s board do?
Well nothing really, except ensure no board member was charged.
The board simply watched on while ASADA concocted a case that led to 34 Essendon players being wrongly convicted.
Fast forward to 2022 and have a look at the selection process for the coach: First the chairman chased a bloke who was never going to come.
Then he implemented an exhaustive ‘independent’ selection process that was truncated once an AFL official put up his hand for the job and was appointed.
The CEO appointment was another farce. First a big announcement of an appointment, then when it became known the CEO was associated with a church that offended the Zeitgeist the chairman asked the bloke he had just appointed to resign.
If the club believes a rebrand will help the Dons what hope have we got for a flag anytime soon?
Forget about the brand. Get the club united behind the coach and the players and Essendon in the 2020s may get a taste of the success Sheedy brought us.
Allan Hird Jr is a former Essendon player and the father of Bombers great James Hird.
This thread wouldn’t be a thing if Fark Carlton had lost on the weekend.
You’re the one reacting to him.
WOB does have a point though.
Sheedy wasn’t offered a new contract. Hardly sacked if he saw out the season …
