Forecast 40’C today so last night I thought I would give the Mizudashi cold brewer that I bought 6 months ago a try.
Added cold milk and very happy with the result this morning.

Has anyone done a comparative test between the Bialetti Brikka vs the Moka?
Bought a coffee machine last week. Hopefully take delivery Monday or Tuesday. Got the Breville Oracle. Was going to get something about a third the price but ended for this after being convinced by a couple of trustworthy people Who own it themselves. Justification is it’s a combined 40th and Xmas gift for me plus Xmas gift for my wife.
I bought one of the little Nespresso machines for our school office (we have to pay for our own coffee at work) in 2012 and it has churned out at least 4-6 coffees a day, 5 days a week.
A little beauty. We’ve been through three milk warmers though.
microwave - much more reliable option
Was watching YouTube channel ‘MorganDrinksCoffee’ and in 1 video she uses a French Press to froth up hot milk.
It actually works very well.
Some might say, it’s the only good use for a French Press.
If you drink long blacks an aeropress is a winner. (and dont mind them a touch on the weaker side)
Nope, but I do love the Bialetti mini espress.
Does a nice espresso shot. Sort of a short black I guess. The coffee makers are cheap too. Maybe 40 dollars.
Downside is brew time.
Yep, AeroPress is my número uno coffee making method.
Occasionally I’ll pull out the Moka Pot or French Press for something different.
I’ve got a V60 as well, so I may do more pour overs.
I go the aeropress, and use the aldi milk warmer thingy for milk coffee.
But making about a million coffees at home every day while WFH has me eyeing an espresso machine. The problem is that I started eyeing the cheapish ones, and through a series of reviews etc I’m now looking at the Gaggia new classic, but am thinking I can’t deal with the steam wand only rotating, and I’m thinking I need dual boilers and and and…
By the time I’m finished I’ll have sold my car (who needs one these days anyway) to fund a coffee machine!
Breville dual boiler. Do it.
seriously.
It is the answer to all the problems you never knew you even had.
you’re welcome.
@Jefferson recommended the Breville Smart Grinder Pro about 6 months back.
I purchased it when I saw a decent price a little while after.
Seriously, what a massive difference it makes.
The convenience, the speed, the consistency of grind, the ability to seemlessly dial in an espresso grind, to pour over grind, all the way to a French Press grind.
It looks pretty dope on the kitchen counter top also.
Just get one of these
or these

The Slayer looks amazing, but if I bought that I’d have to move into a trendy inner city converted warehouse apartment !
The cafe’s I used to own had 2 of these (a 2 & a 3 group) at every site. Really nice machine, but they do take up a lot of bench space.
This thread really makes me happy.
Almost criminal that there was no posting in here for 5 months.
The forced quarantine should have resulted in more coffee consumption…not less
It definitely resulted in more, I can assure you…
I pulled the trigger on the Seven Seeds subscription last week, first bag arrived yesterday. Went the 1kg/fortnight. It’s probably a shade too much but have just got an aeropress for work so expecting I’ll dump ~250gm/fortnight at work alone which will probably be the balance of the bag.
I’ve been living with a Kg a month, but iso has had me buying another 500g over the counter.
With a new canister arriving last week to keep the fresh beans for longer and the prospect of more people coming over for coffee, I’m fairly sure we wont have a problem of over supply. And if we do accumulate a bit, I can also make a breakfast stout…
