College football thread

I think it is fantastic.

Hard to like any of them.

Without liking any of them it exposes the whole system.

Football isn’t played on paper, and hence the assumptions that the rankings committee have made, and continue to make all of the time based on reputation and perception mean nothing when teams have to front up to actually play.

The #1 and #2 rated teams both ended up losing, and rather convincingly.

It will be interesting to see how this progresses and whether patterns develop like in the NFL, where the top teams with byes sometimes bomb out due to coming out flat and without momentum. Perhaps the conference championships should not play a part in seeding but maybe overall rankings.

Ohio State’s form has made everyone forget their little choke against Michigan very quickly… maybe there is some danger in games like that becoming somewhat less important.

With all 4 top seeds losing, here’s an interesting article that likely sees Notre Dame loving their status as an independent.

Will need to see whether future years have similar results regarding top teams having the bye round… but there’s a massive benefit for Notre Dame in not having to share any broadcasting $$$ with other schools.

The Orange Bowl with Penn State against Notre Dame starts shortly. Should be a good one.

Come on, giant meteor.

geez some penalty calls in this sport are wild

not sure how that holding caused the qb to underthrow it but there you go

That’s a bad miss.

Notre Dame looking overmatched by Penn State early.

Nice adjustment from ND after halftime.

this 4th qtr has been nuts

Quite remarkable that ND was still in it after those two bad interceptions.
The killer for Penn State was last give-away at the end.

quite poetic that the last lateral the penn qb threw landed in fort lauderdale

man, jesus was busy today

Well, he’s been ignoring the Pacific Palisades.

For me the height of personal arrogance will always be athletes and coaches who profess that Jesus helped them win football games.
