Steve Hooker's wife, Yekaterina Kostetskaya, has been done for use or attempted use of drugs.
Kostetskaya was charged under IAAF Rule 32.2b for “use/attempted use of a prohibited substance/method†at the 2011 world championships in Daegu where she finished fifth in the 800m.
She received a two-year ban and isn‘t eligible to compete again until January 20, 2015.

Ban looks significantly backdated and only has in reality 5 months to run.

Help me out here - banned from 2011, isn't allowed to go again until 2015 under a 2 year ban, and you think it's backdated?

...interesting.
We are at the end of July, there is 5 months until Jan 2015. I assume he means that if it is only just announced as a ban then with only 5 months to go it is a backdated ban rather than from now for 2 more years.

Important to realise the ban was enforced by the IAAF under its biological passport program. Had nothing to do with WADA.
Good to see Kim Mickle win the Javelin. She's a very consistent performer at the Diamond League. There are 2 or 3 javelin throwers ahead of her on the world stage, but you have a good day and the others have a bad day, you can get a medal at the Olympics or World Championship.

Our athletics is currently weak and is underfunded verses England
we need to develop more indigenous runners. I thought we would have had a few after freeman, Kyle vanderkyup and stefferson.
Its the afterglow from the London funding that GBR got. The last time we lost the medal tally was also in Scotland - Edinburgh 86. The biggest turnaround has probably been in the artistic gymnastics - we won 9 gold in Delhi to none here, whereas the English have dominated. I think we have been down in the Diving as well. Also, I believe there are fewer gold medals on offer here vs the last few games, so that has affected the numbers as well.
