Yummm!!
Iām a ā ā ā ā cook and I have absolutely no idea if this new Greek Vegie cook book, Philoxenia: A Seat at my Table, is any good but my Better Half preordered it ages ago and it looks like weāll get it pretty soon. Hopefully it will provide me with some new recipes because Iām right out of ideas. If nothing else itās already made heaps for a good cause. Kudos to the author.
"Update on your cookbook order
I want to firstly thank you for helping me raise $211,754 to provide food to families seeking asylum at the Asylum Seeker Resource. That is 100% of all my profits from your incredible 6,294 pre - orders and my author fees. You are amazing!
While I stated that Philoxenia: A Seat at my Table is not out till October 4 on the pre-ordering website, I know it has been a long wait and I thank you so much for your patience and understanding.
You will be getting your copy before bookstores, and it will be personally signed by me too.
I will be receiving my copies from my publisher in approximately mid-September (they are currently being published) and all 6,294 copies will be personally signed by me to say thank you when I post them out. My aim is for you all to receive them the week before they are out in Bookstores, so the last week of September.
What if I have changed my address since placing my order?
If you have changed your address since placing your order, please just email me at: [email protected] and I will update your details. I will also do so for everyone who has already advised me by email of a change of address.
What difference did it make for refugees and the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre by pre - ordering from you and so far in advance?
My publisher Hardie Grant were kind enough to let me do a personal pre - order which enabled me to pass on 100% of my profits outside of publishing costs of the book back to the ASRC (as I handled all orders, paid for the website myself), meaning approx. $26 from every book you pre-ordered went back to the ASRC.
Based on my research it appears this is the second most successful cookbook ever in Australia in terms of money ($211,754) raised for charity! Also, for transparency purposes I have made $0 from this book, including from tax as I received all income through my website that I then donated it all back already so my tax benefit is $0.
I would like to pre - order more copies of your book, can I and will it still raise money for the ASRC?
Personal pre - orders from me ended in June but you can now pre - order through bookshops here:
A Seat at My Table: Philoxenia (lnk.to)
Readings Books will generously be donating $2 from every - preorder and Hardie Grant $1 from every pre-order back to the ASRC. I will continue to donate 100% of any profits I receive back to the ASRC too.
Again, you can pre - order here and help raise even more funds for the ASRC

A final personal thanks from me and my mum Sia
I want to say a heartfelt thank you again for pre - ordering our cookbook so far in advance and sight unseen. Thank you for the trust in me and supporting me and the ASRC. Thank you for showing philoxenia, for welcoming refugees with love and compassion through supporting this book of ours.
Last night I got to see for the first time the final book (before a cookbook is printed on mass they get a handful done to make sure itās what they expected) and can I tell you itās even more beautiful than I could have dreamed of. The thousands of hours I spent writing this book at night after work and weekends suddenly felt so justified. Also, to see the pride in my mum who grew up in poverty and never even had a chance to go to High School now be a published author with her name on the front cover is everything. There is no cookbook without my beautiful mum. We put in so much love and care into this book, it has not just 100 gorgeous recipes but so much more for you to explore and enjoy. We cannot wait to share it with you!"
There will be an official book launch in October in Melbourne with my mum and multiple bookstore events in Victoria too. My hope is to get to every state in Australia once the book is released to share a conversation with the community. Please keep a look out on my social media channels if you are interested for dates and locations."
looking for recipie inspiration / ideas .
A friend of mine from Leongatha, sent me some beautiful looking wild mushrooms
Not really all that funny.
If really fresh, i love them in an omlete. Basic but flavorsome.
Not sure if thereās a True Crime forum topic, but hereās as good as anything.
Many of us who watch True Crime podcasts & YT channels will be watching this Death Cap mushroom case in Leongatha with interest. Itās looking more like murder every day. Neighbourhood & Dashcam CCTV & mobile tower pings & browser history. a recently thrown-out dehydrator⦠get the popcorn out!
itās like a miss Marple episode. but I do love a good mushroom. didnāt realise the wild ones are so dangerous .
this woman crying with no tears on tv, she said they have never done anything wrong to me, when no one asked her that question .
Thereās a fairly good reason theyāre named death cap mushrooms.
apparantely one of the deceased ex is now claiming the woman tried to poison them previously. LOL. cant write this ā ā ā ā
He was apparently invited to the lunch also, but pulled out last minute.
I know there is the whole innocent until proven guilty, but sheās as guilty as they come.
Imagine even contemplating for a second going to a dinner hosted by someone who tried to poison you.
Yeah not looking good. Mushrooms in a beef Wellington? Yeah nah.
How do you know? Are you telepathic or something? You can read her thoughts? Or maybe you were hiding in her kitchen when she added the poison ā which hasnāt even been established to be mushrooms.
You refer to the presumption of innocence and then apply the presumption of guilt.
Ugh come on. Itās online chit chat, it means nothing
Online chit-chat labelling some woman a murderess on the basis of zero evidence.
Yes thatās right. It means nothing. Move on
I donāt think he knew she tried to poison him until now.
Iāve watched enough crime dramas to know when someone is guilty.
LOL, who are you, her lawyer?
Apparently she described her Beef Wellington as āTo die forāā¦
I didnāt know people still cooked beef Wellingtonās until this.
