Looks like some stuff I had in a local restaurant in Nara once. :+1:. It was fab.

Made a Tuna, Bacon, Brown Mushroom pasta with cream sauce today. I only had salt and pepper to season (limited supply in overseas apartment).

Found a really good recipe for German currywurst (or for the sauce at least) so have been smashing a fair whack of that lately. Such a delicious comfort food.

Sauce goes great on grilled chicken or hot dogs, too.

Sooooo, are you going to share? Or just making an announcement?

Happy to share

I found this recipe a good starting point:

  • I noticed no discernible difference using bicarb (baking) soda.
  • I chuck in a good amount of garlic powder
  • keens curry powder works really well
  • def use ketchup and not tomato sauce. Ketchup is sweeter and that sweetness is needed.

Edit. Clive of India curry powder, not Keens

Thanks mate.

We were quite the fans when in Berlin.

It’s good gear - I tried it at a bunch of different places in Berlin.

We had an excellent little hole in the wal currywurst place near the train station near our hotel.

I’m not qualified to comment on its use in this recipe.

However, I love many curry flavours, but can’t stand Keens. It’s just heat with very little curry flavour of its own, in my opinion.

Although I can eat hot spicy food when it’s presented, I find I enjoy flavours more when the heat is low enough to be able to taste the complexities of the other spices.

Oops, not Keens.

Dunno why I thought it was Keens…

Ran out of bread for lunch today, and given the rain I didn’t want to get in the car and go buy a loaf. So ended up making flatbread myself. Dead simple. Plain flour, milk, butter and a pinch of salt. Can’t believe I never tired it before, was quality.

Alicia makes bread using yoghurt, flour and water I think. It goes alright.

Yoghurt (acid) will react with SR flour to raise it up… makes a simple airy flatbread.

I know it’s not cooking but can any of you foodies recommend an eatery in Carlton? Something good for family with kids. Italian of course!

Just walk along Lygon Street. Choose any one that looks good.

Nah I want to book ahead

Il Gambero in Lygon St.
Highly recommend the seafood platter.
