Cooking

I went to the Farmers Market today. Check out all this beautiful produce I have to cook with.

I have to hit up my Ottolenghi books to find a recipe for the Jerusalem artichokes.

Soup. Jerusalem artichoke soup is the best soup there is.

(Except for cold green pea velouté that I had in Paris last year.)

Well la di da Mr Fancy

Only decent pea soup is one that has a pie floating in it with a healthy dose of tomato sauce :joy:

I thought artichokes make you fart like a machine-gun.

Ever absent mindedly grabbed a JA thinking it was a piece of ginger? I have. Didn’t realise until I started to prepare it for some Thai.

I can lift heavy things.

Not really.

This is what I’m leaning towards

Hahah. One of my friends I sent the photo to asked why I had bought a whole bag of ginger! So it’s not just you

One of the growers I was chatting to today said to expect all of these fancy veggies to be more readily available to plebs like me. He said it’s because they grow them mainly for restaurants but obviously the restaurants don’t need as much at the moment!

Yeah they are fartichokes. In any case I would roast them.

Beef ribs for tea tonight (I’m not as good a photographer as @westozziebomber)

I was fully aware of the wankery content of what I said, but accuracy required the reference.

The cold carrot velouté at the same place was pretty damn good too.

I think that’s the other type of artichoke, which looks like a big ugly flower. I don’t think Jerusalem artichokes have the same aromatic consequences.

I made the Ikea meatballs today. Lots of turned up noses in the household until they tasted them. Sooo good!!!

Never tried it but it looks hearty and satisfying

Many times in my youth when I stumbled out of a pub at 3am the pie cart was there to save me with their delicious pie floaters. It had one of two effects on people under the weather, they would either vomit it straight back up or it gave you a mighty second wind and made you feel fresh as a daisy. It had the later effect on me luckily.
There is a pie cart out the front of Norwood oval during game days and on a wet, windy day they go down a treat also

Do they actually put the pie in upside down?
