Morrison is flagging allowing people who have been vaccinated to be able to travel (for business or funerals) without hotel quarantine but to do home quarantine.
This is in the same discussion where he mentioned if borders were to open then we’d need to become accustomed to many cases and potential lockdowns.
Something tells me he doesn’t understand that the vaccine doesn’t reduce transmission. There’s no point having vaccinated people travel overseas (for whatever reason), expose themselves to the virus and then come back here to self quarantine and risk infections in the community.
We have to accept that we are in a totally different position to the economic powers of the world.
If we had a better alliance with China, we could have a better chance.
I guess it will be interesting to see at what point they will ever consider it to be safe in allowing people to home quarantine. Because if the vaccine doesn’t stop the spread and the virus ain’t dying out anytime soon, it will be years before it’s fully safe.
Churches are as good as anyone for the game of grift.
Dodgy practices in the aged care industry?
Well colour me shocked…
isn’t st basils why the former vic health minister lost her gig?
No.
Most Aged Care homes were the responsibility of the Federal Government (St Basils is one). As far as I can remember, the Federal minister responsible is unscathed despite his bungling.
The state run aged care homes were run exceptionally well and had few cases and fatalities.
The Archbishop obviously has a different take on what a vow of poverty actually is
Then people wonder why people hate churches. Makes me sick.
They literally get everything donated to them, including lots of money.
This will have the panic merchants in a tizzy
Breaking: Blood clots as prevalent with Pfizer and Moderna vaccine as with AstraZeneca’s: new study
A study by Oxford University found the number of people who receive blood clots after getting vaccinated with a coronavirus vaccine are about the same for those who get Pfizer and Moderna MRNA vaccines as they are for the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Also the European Medicines Agency have released this:
“The researchers also looked at 331,503 people who had received the Pfizer vaccine and found that two had developed CVST, which equates to 4.1 per million. The EMA has also reported 169 cases of the clots out of 34 million vaccinations with the AstraZeneca jab, or five per million.”
Think that was early on, now they believe that it does reduce transmission.
There’s a misunderstanding in the community about this. The vaccine definitely reduces transmission, it just doesn’t eliminate it. AstraZeneca reduces transmission by 67%. Transmission from a vaccinated person to another vaccinated person would be even lower.
You are correct that there’s a real risk that a vaccinated person brings the virus into the country and spreads it into the population.
There’s going to be a halfway step like this at some point. Once everyone over 50 is vaccinated, the consequences of an outbreak are much less. We as a nation will start taking on more risk because the consequences will be increasingly low.
Good chance the older vaccines get completed by August/October. At that point the economic costs of maintaining elimination become less and less justifiable. And when I say economic costs, I focus on the impacts people’s job security, personal wealth and wellbeing.
Going to freak Australians out, but at some point we are going to let this spread.
If it ends up being established that Pfizer is linked to clots at the same rate as AZ, well serious egg on face for the advisory committee. In that case, they’ll have to withdraw their advice about preference for Pfizer for under 50s and update consent forms for Pfizer.
I don’t think it will.
Remember the normal rate is about 4 in a million. Recipients of Pfizer is 4 in a million.
The suggestions are that recipients of AZ are 5 in a million.
In terms of difference from the baseline, it’s miniscule.
Yes. I received a business/Appt card with my name, vaccine type (AZ) and ID. Also vaccination date for dose 1 and the nominated date for dose 2.
On the back of the card contained a “thankyou” for receiving the jab, a statement relating to the card NOT being a formal vaccine certification. Reporting of any side effects and finally details/links regarding the Covid Vaccine.
The venue, the staff, the efficiency of the operation exceeded my expectations. I passed on my comments to the Area Supervisor who suggested they could “do more” if they had access to more vaccine and notice of when it would arrive.

I’m still waiting for my mutant superpowers to develop.
Fkn Scomo! Another thing he can’t get right.
The results probably wouldn’t differ but I’d like to see this study done by somewhere without a vested interest in the success of the AZ vaccine.
edit
As an aside I’m now up to 3 people I’ve met who got COVID at one point.
1 girl from uni, ex-VFL footballer training with us and also his missus.
Need to pay off those child sex abuse survivors somehow.
They are the most corrupted and arguably most evil corporation in the world
