Purely anecdotal so take with a massive grain of salt, but a significant amount simply dont care, chin masks, congregating while waiting. When i went to get my jab at sunshine hospital these 2 cabbies were talking through the car window without a mask, at the ■■■■■■■ hospital.
so what you’re saying has merit, they’re also certainly not helping themselves with the simple ■■■■.
My boss’s brother in law has covid. He got from his 16 year old son who picked it up while working in a cafe in the infected LGA. Their 12 year old son now also has covid. The only one who doesn’t have covid is the double-vaxxed mum. The father was holding out for Moderna, he regrets that now apparently and wished he has taken AZ.
If you look at the testing numbers it’s very much in step with what NSW were getting. Their 1000+ days were off the back of 120K tests. This is off just 62K tests. You extrapolate that out and it’s a 1400-1500 positive cases based on NSW test numbers.
having walked around the Maribyrnong at lunchtime yesterday, the numbers make sense. Complacency reigns with 1/3 not wearing masks. And thats just those having a casual wander.
Yeah. I go along the Maribyrnong early in the morning around 6. A lot less people wearing masks than say this time last year, or even 3-4 months ago. The message isn’t getting through now, it’s been 18 months, plenty of lockdown fatigue. Bu that doesn’t excuse the violence that has taken place this week whatsoever…
One of my work colleagues and her 18YO son are now isolating after he became a PCC. I don’t often need to go into the office, but I worked with her a couple of days ago, and she found out later that day. The same day, my daughter’s boyfriend went into isolation with his whole family, as his sister became a PCC from a case at her work in a Maccas store.
We haven’t yet heard back about their first tests, which if both negative, should mean we weren’t at risk of exposure. It certainly feels like the chances of coming into contact with a positive case is no longer remote.
Are they reporting on the number of people who are positive and are either vaxxed or unvaxxed? Or do they just do this for the people who end up in hospital?
One of the issues with giving a total number of all the vaxed and unvaxed cases on a a daily or weekly basis relates to the timing of an individual’s vax ( as well as one dose)
I imagine stats are being collected - and shared internationally- for the longer term by age groups, to eliminate discrepancies which might suggest that one type of vax would be more effective than another between age groups
I read an interesting article on music that has a tenuous link to this thread, and thought it might make an interesting read for some people here.
“Pop music is often described as catchy, but it seems you really can infect friends with your music taste. The pattern of music downloads after their release appears to closely resemble epidemic curves for infectious disease – and electronica appears to be the most infectious genre of all.”
