Covid 19 - Round 6 . The Winter Slog

Aged care didn’t seem to be the massive part in high numbers that I thought.

You don’t think ~1 in 6 in a very specific section of the community that are most at risk is a high percentage?

Its awful, don’t get me wrong. But I was expecting a higher percentage, yes.

That’s a good way to stop people wanting to get tested.
We need to encourage not discourage testing.

Maybe legislate weekly testing for workers in high risk environments with a casual workforce.
E.g. you don’t get a shift unless you can show me a -ve test result within last 7 days.

And daily temperature testing to commence a shift. If Chemist Warehouse can do it, why not an Aged Care facility?

it went up by ~15% again today.

We’ll top 10,000 tomorrow. Does that mean we lock the virus and start a new one?

Yeah, I get it. I’m sad but thought with all the focus, that number may have been higher also.

I have no insight, just thought when I heard 700 that its was going to be a larger number.

700 a couple of days ago, 900 today.

*Daily cases total

I know its bad, I know the numbers are high and its catastrophic.

further guilt on casual workers who can’t afford not to go to work, terrific idea

Let’s not forget that JobKeeper/JobSeeker completely missed this significant part of the workforce.

I would instead propose a stimulus payment to all casual workers. Remove the financial implications from their decision making process for the next couple of weeks.

“But what if _____ or _____ or _____” who cares. If you want some drastic action this is what to do. We can’t nickel-and-dime our way out of this.

That has already been done (by the State Government, not the Feds).

When?

ABC TV cuts the presser, explains that had given Andrews 50 minutes. All of a sudden , starts televising again. Penny must have dropped that viewers prefer to form their own opinions than to be selectively informed by the media.

oh that

Nah I’m talking Rudd-bucks style. Here’s $1,200 (or whatever) now stay home pls

The availability of the current support doesn’t seem to be doing a lot at the moment. If I had to make an assumption as to why I would say its the perception of applying for government support being a cumbersome and drawn-out process, and it’s “easier” just to go to work.
