Legitimately unbelievable, and as I’ve said before, proof that we live in one of the greatest cities on earth.
The people’s collective will to stay the course and get this done (minus a handful of loud naysayers) was absolutely remarkable.
The state Australia generally finds itself in at the moment is one of the country’s greatest ever achievements, and maybe it’s finest moment since the Second World War IMO
For what it’s worth, personally I (and Mrs D) won’t be rushing to be first in line to get the vaccine. Not that we’d be offered it given how it’s going to be rolled out. There is a reason why drug development isn’t done in this time frame. There is an increased risk in rushing things at such speed. As a reminder, it’s why clubs don’t cram two pre-seasons into one like Essendon / Robinson tried to do.
I think Chris yesterday (as an expert in the field) said that he was extremely confident that no safety shortcuts would have been taken, that it’s mainly administrative savings that have been found in the timeframe (as well as some differences in opinions about efficacy). This seems to also be the conclusion of almost all experts.
All of the data will need to go through expert regulators before they are ever approved for human use. If there are any safety concerns whatsoever remaining (which is extremely unlikely) then they will be picked up at that stage.
Each to their own Doe, and you’ve gotta do whatever makes you most comfortable, but you’d hate to have a situation where you chose not to get the vaccine because of some concerns that were ill-founded and then you ended up getting sick.
