Crichton Medal 2022

Good point

Was wondering why the club still hadn’t shared any speeches from the Crichton - turns out they were just holding back any more awks CEO content.

I don’t always agree with Kane Cornes. But he had a solid whack at Shiel, Parish, McGrath & Stringer…. Based on where they finished in the B&F.

I have to strongly agree. Other than few good patches, they were all disappointing to say the least.

The entertaining thing was during the call back section, and all the apologisers calling in to complain that he was being too harsh.

Absolutely laughable. The amount excuses being made for our highest paid players (and supposed leaders) is a joke.

Parish was clearly our best player in the first half of the season. Based on votes per game, he’d have finished 3rd if he’d played every game. I’d concede that his 2021 form was better.

Shiel was horrible in the first half of the season, but only behind Redman, Merrett and Wright as our best player in the second half, in my opinion. I reckon he deserves a lot of credit for the way he turned his season around, especially considering the scrutiny he was under.

Stringer…not sure. Pretty much every time he looks like he’s about to dominate, he gets injured again. Obviously very frustrating.

McGrath was horribly disappointing. I still think he can be a good player, but he’d wanna be much, much, much better than he showed this season. Not sure he deserves to be in a leadership position in 2023.

Agree with your first two comments, disagree with the second two.

Re Stringer, he is just too unreliable. Doesn’t kick the clutch goals.

Re McGrath, I thought he was pretty good. Okay, the media weren’t fawning over him the way they do over McCluggage, but he played in defence most of the year when the defence was constantly being bombarded and when a defender got the ball there was never a player upfield to kick to. He mostly kept his opponents quiet, quite often beat them hands down in one-on-one contests, and mostly hit targets, which is not easy to do when there are few if any clearly available targets. He’s a player who will star when the team is actually playing with some spirit as a team.

Guelfi was mr consistently good rather than great and showed intent every game to do the little things redman had some big games but he had some shockers too think guelf beat him by a lot of bottom of our top 5 players votes

Shiel - had a good 2nd half of the year…but yeap ordinary early, lets hope he maintains the 2nd half in 2023
Parish - BADLY injured his calf & missed a large number of games. The blame for this should be on the medical staff after they sent him back on the ground after the initial injury…so DISAGREE
McGrath - lost his way, needs to go back and stay back
Stringer - Injured for a large number of games, after destroying his preseason…came back underdone cause we needed him badly…lets hope he get a full go at it this year cause if he and 2MP can start playing up, we will do weel
