Cricket Part III

Agarwal’s backfoot doesn’t always bring him into line on the front foot. He’ll struggle with a bit of movement imo. But there ain’t none at the moment.

KoK is talking about Starc’s bowling. He is basically saying that Starc is bowling to contain not take wickets. He is tucking the batsmen up rather than trying to draw him out and hitting the ball away from the body. He thinks this is happening because Starc cannot get any movement.

Which is fine.
But if they needed a fifth bowler, how do you not choose literally…my apologies…figuratively anyone over Marsh?

I don’t know if it is fine, TBH.

Surely Starc in the 5th or or 6th over of a spell is more dangerous than MMarsh?

I think the problem is twofold: they have a fetish for allrounders and they have a worry about the batting depth.

If we had say Warner and Smith batting then they might accept a loss of a batting slot for a pure fast young fast bowler.

Then again, I think the selectors still wouldn’t because they can’t get past allrounders.

Keep changing the pace and flight, goat. Just might get a return catch.

I don’t want to go on about it, it’ll get boring.
But to give a ridiculously bad example meant to make a point, how is Stoinis a worse choice than Marsh?

If Trent Copeland was any more wooden he’d have a sticker on his back.

The obvious problem of course is that Mitch at 6 doesn’t help the batting depth at all. Like, even if he was a Test average of 45 batsman, he only adds to depth if at 7 or 8. And his bowling isn’t good enough to be part of the four.

He isn’t worse, and I would prefer him, at least you know he will go occasionally well with both bat and ball.

Yes we all know that, but the selectors don’t.

I was about to make a crack about this but I think Icey means depth in state cricket.

India keeping us in this.

Starc around the wicket isn’t helping Lyon with footmarks.

Perth Scorchers might score more runs tonight than India will today.

Starc is not dangerous and hasn’t been overall in any of the tests (other than a couple of short spells).

1/100, not really going hard but not being terribly troubled either.

Yep, important 15 overs coming up.
2/30 or 0/50?

What we need is the GOAT

Speaking to Adam Gilchrist - in an interview to be aired on Fox Sports during the Boxing Day Test lunch break -Bancroft said he felt pressured into cheating out of a desire to fit into the group.

“Dave [Warner] suggested to me to carry the action out on the ball given the situation we were in in the game and I didn’t know any better,” Bancroft said.

What is farking disgracful excuse of a human being is Bancroft. Didn’t know any better - FMD. You’d think he was a 7 year old. Can’t even admit guilt.
