Dan Richardson - joining the mass exodus

Whoever they get is the next new shiny thing.
So does that mean whoever they get you are setting up to dislike them immediately?

For further interest, neither “but” nor “and” are prepositions. Both are conjunctions. I realise interest rates are historically low.

Brad Scott would be a very good upgrade on Danny boy. He’s also worked at the AFL and will help with our free kick deficit. He’s also got a lot of CU$$ in him …we need to get ruthless …this has Sheeds fingerprints all over it

If it is Scott it has to be an AFL deal as they are still helping to off set the costs of the Nth Melb sacking.

I’ll grab my tin hat.

Do you really think it’s all for show? At the moment I’m giving Paul Brasher the benefit of the doubt, and I’ll reserve judgment. Personally I don’t care how we get there, so long as a) we become a successful club again (which means winning premierships), and b) we do it legally.

I don’t care whether we replace our head of football with a big name or an unknown; what I care about is whether he does a good job. Another alternative is that we don’t replace Richardson at all, but have a flatter structure, which is what one of the articles quoted above raised as a possibility. All I care about is that we see results on the field, which won’t happen until they start playing again.

I’ll try. The facts in bold. The rest is joining the dots.

There has been tension between X and Richo for a while and it amplified when X imposed the succession plan.

Richo and Rutten have been very much on the same page as to the direction the club needs to take. Brasher came late to this hence the review

It was always going to go down one of two ways, the board would buy in to the ‘burn it and rebuild it’ line favoured by Rutten and Richo or they would stick with the ‘we’re on the right track’ line peddled by X. These were always going to be battle lines.

Even if Brasher knows in his heart the problem is cultural, a full rebuild was going to be a tough sell. The Club needs to leverage their 150 yrs financially. They don’t believe the members would suffer through a rebuild, which only highlights how out of touch they are.

So, what to do? Of course they do the Essendon thing and paper the cracks. Take the easy way out and pray like hell it doesn’t crash and burn.

Here’s the diabolical twist. The timings off. You don’t sack the GM of footy this close to trade period, when he’s in the middle of building his team, when he’s been influential in selling the vision to the youngsters that were so disillusioned this year… unless the opportunity to bury it quickly is too good to miss. Vale Doc Reid.

Tin foil hat garbage and beneath you to even suggest that.

You’re right. My (egregious) error. The supposed rule is not about ending a sentence, not beginning one, with a preposition, which is something up with which I will not put.

Paul Brasher doesn’t do anything for show…he’s a tough ruthless but fair businessman…he’s also very smart and loves Essendon. Anything he does you can guarantee its to improve the club and win premierships

But he more than makes up for it with his insight charisma intelligence good looks having worked there for a very very long time

How the ■■■■ does Campbell keep escaping the sack.

Not at all. I wish whomever it is well… and luck, lots and lots of luck.

Along with the other club identities who were doing likewise, no doubt.

Which youngsters were disillusioned? Are you including Ridley or McGrath in this catch all?

It is truly awful. I also believe it’s true.

Absolutely

Doc Reid passing away in no way hides the story of Richardson being sacked. It’s already in the papers and all of them. I am disgusted you are using his death in your hatred of this club’s people to push your narrative on things.

Age article mentioned clubs needed to fire people by Friday to include it in this years cap.

So it was financial, which blah, I really hope it wasn’t an only financial decision just before trade period.

I’m not. Think about it. I do understand your feelings. It sickens me also but I stand by it.

That sounds believable, money is pretty tight at the moment.
