I think that you are wrong.
You have some serious issues and I would suggest you go away and spend some time reflecting on such a terribly poor approach. To use Dr Reid’s passing for your narrative is not at all the right thing to do.
What makes you think the ex General Manager of Footy had the capability or credentials to build the team?
You’re right. It’s absolutely not the right thing to do.
Then you should very much apologise for such a disgusting statement instead of doubling down on it. You have really lowered your colours on this Darli.
Ehhh. Normally up for a bit of conspiracy action.
But footy contracts (typically) go from Nov 1 to Oct 30.
Assistants & coaches are often dumped this time of year. No idea on the who, what & why - but the timing is not raising my eyebrow, at all.
(Ignore when it falls with trade week etc - his contract wouldn’t have been signed with this season in mind)
Well he was building the team of assistants and they seemed to have bought in to his plan. I know of at least one of the younger brigade who signed because of the vision Richo sold him, when AD was struggling to get him over the line.
Footy “year” is from Nov 1 to end of October. So, yes.
Neil Balme
But he’s not an assistant coach, he was the GM of football And for the first time in 3 years he was actually on the right track.
I’ll quote from my earlier post …
The whole new coaching group and staff- he just hired them all. You either do it late in the season or after the draft, doing it now just leaves everything a huge mess. He hired Gia last week FFS, hired Cara, Truck, Leigh Tudor, Cam Roberts, was just getting the VFL sorted out, was recruiting players and staff and signing players to contracts.
The timing is bizarre
I think you should back off a tad IT.
I asked her a question, she responded with her thoughts.
Do I think the Doc Reid thing is true? No, not at all. Do I think it’s a truly outrageous thing to suggest or to think? On balance I don’t think so, having had regard to some of the behaviour of the club admin in the past.
You need to also recognise while Darli can be overly negative about the club, you also seem to become triggered at the first sign of any criticism. Two sides of the same coin.
Darli - I appreciate your thoughts and while my view is that not all of them are likely to be right, I suspect your central tenet (that X was responsible and it’s an issue of club direction) is probably pretty close.
FIxed it up for you.
Well he ain’t shiny.
Ain’t he ain’t new.
But where ever he does go.
Success appears to ensue.
Poetry in motion!
So he’s done all his hiring & firing for the upcoming season, and his contract runs out tomorrow.
And - for whatever reason - we didn’t rate him enough to give him a new one.
I don’t see how this is a thing.
Then I can’t help you
No I will not back off SMJ, it was a pathetic thing to do, drag a man’s name into the equation for the sake of vitriol to the club, a man who gave over 30 years of service. It was pathetic and low. It was not necessary or right.
Organisations generally don’t allow people they don’t rate and are about to get rid of to do hiring right before they go out the door.
A couple of years ago, I reached breaking point…I was so baffled that a mental weakling such as Mark Robinson has a media position, that I googled his background.
I found a profile piece, and this quote that confirmed what everyone can still see today:
"…he failed to achieve the marks needed in VCE to get into a journalism course…"
