You were on about diverse action claims- have you got one we can read about?

She has been involved in the external review
She is involved in the selection of candidates to be put to the Board for a vote.
As a Board member she gets to vote on her recommendations
Is her bio up on the EFC website? I do know she works for KPMG and that she left an AFL job following a falling out.
But that’s about it, don’t know any other affiliations

Thorburn was CEO of BNZ from 2008-14 and before that NAB Head of Retail Banking

2007-09 “Member of Retail Bank Leadership Team” so Thorburn would’ve been her boss (2007-08) in that role

and both would’ve been members of the NAB Executive Committee in her GM role 2008-10

Constructive dismissal is a very hard argument to make out though. Unless there has been a change at common law, the onus of proof is on the employee/Thorburn to show that due to the conduct of the employer they have been effectively dismissed; and that the employer’s conduct was the only contributing factor (in all the circumstances) which led to separation of employment. “In all the circumstances” requires a state of mind assessment which the Commission has been reluctant to do.

I wonder about the connection between EY and AT as well. Obviously EY is a big organization, but EY Is the current auditors of NAB. Not sure if they were when AT was CEO, but if they were EY would have been on a significant retainer….

My understanding is Ernst & Young recommended the CEO for board to consider and completed all reference checks to hand over. No doubt there would be a few please explains going on with EY on reference checks. It doesn’t omit club doing their own diligence also. Just a complete ugly no win for anyone outcome

She used to be a Collingwood supporter.
How did she get to be on the EFC Board?

He hasn’t a leg to stand on. He misrepresents his case. The EFC did not ask him to give up his religion. They identified a conflict between his position as Chairman of the group of eight Cities on the Hill, and that of Chief Executive Officer of the Essendon Football Club, and asked him to give up one position or the other. He was entirely free to worship where he wished and as he wished, as an ordinary Christian believer.

It was a question of ego, of power and privilege. Thorburn wanted to be top dog in both spheres of his life - in work and in worship. We made him choose, and he spat the dummy. Ego.

Part of Collingwood’s objection to having Bridie O’Donnell on their Board was that she was not a Collingwood supporter ( forgot to buy a membership before the appointment)‘
