David Barham - Our new Board Overlord

its one of those things where the right outcome has happened, but the ■■■■■■■ journey was just stupid, should never have been a candidate, should never have been on the external review panel, or the coaching election panel. everything he’s touched has to be questioned, the coaching selection process has to be reviewed.

no one is going to be appointed ceo of a club that said club sued.

This is the key problem. There should have been more rigour around declaring all leadership roles regardless of whether they were in volunteering capacity or otherwise. This would have allowed for the club (and EY) to determine whether those positions gave rise to perceived conflict of interests.

Yeah, this. We eventually made the right decision - by accident, too late, for the wrong reasons, and not before making every possible wrong decision first.

People have paid a price for that at EFC in the past.

You’d think such a high position as CEO anywhere they’d ask or find out what other roles people hold in any organisation and assess for conflict of interest.

the entire point of using a mob like ey to do this is so there’s something to blame when it goes balls up

Kym Peake was part of the CEO process!?!

So we had not the bloke who charged millions of dollars in fees for no service and got ratted out by a Royal Commission and also the state dept executive who oversaw covid quarantine that led to scores of deaths.

i think i posted this before but it should be in the first few questions asked. right after “how are you”, “did you have any issues with parking” and “would you like something to drink”

It’s incredible, really. Talk about failing upwards.

Maybe it’s time to dust off the Brasher internal review. It might be less contaminated than the external one

He is in the running. Get on board.

silver lining of this whole circus is more and more people coming to the realisation that skeletons in suits don’t contribute anything meaningful to anyone and should be held in lower esteem than all customer facing service workers

I get the feeling he is gone. Probably within the next week or two.

“ He is — in my experience — a first class person, I regard him as a friend. He’s got great values," Mr McLachlan said.”

WTF is a”First class person?”

Are we all second or third class?

Who decides. Not very inclusive from the head of the AFL
