I worked with a guy once whose mantra was “lets not move too fast,” at every meeting, at every opportunity.
Consequently he never moved at all, never achieved anything other than another review and another meeting.
I fear EFC might have been struck with the same intertia over the years.
IMO the internal review was floored, but so was the external review. What would EY know about running a football club? They should have put together an external team (like the coaching panel) with experienced and successful football administrators and players to conduct the review.
Or got one smart football person.
Yep, EY will just regurgitate what people in the club want them to say.
I don’t remember working with you?
I posted an article when an external review was first announced, and I don’t have the chance to go find it now, but EY did the Richmond review - the changes from which were widely credited with their turnaround.
Obviously though it’s about working alongside someone who has football experience and then, more importantly, how the club actually implements the recommendations.
If it were me, I’d support an internal review, rubbish the findings, spill the board and then pay EY to let me present the same findings as new and go from there.
Good to see that Welshy is making all the right noises - but proof=pudding
Was Thorburn part of that one?
How did Thorburn get involved in the first place?
Was he part of the EY team, or did Essendon engage him?
Thats what I want to know… how did he even qualify to be on the external review panel?
Think it’s just a taster to show they are doing something. The important stuff will come in the full report.
I was skeptical at first thinking “here we go again another job for the boys” but after reading that article I’m happy he’s on board.
Reckon Brendan Gale was the Tillerman there. Hasn’t received enough credit. Or maybe he has and I wasn’t watching.
In Dave we trust.
■■■■ off Damian Barrett you shitstain
In regard to the list of CEO candidates that Barham referred to, was Thorburn involved in a panel doing the selection?
Barham could have spent the last 7 years on the board fighting every bad decision they have made but unable to put a stop to it until now. If Barrett has more info on this then he should make it public, but he wont, because he doesnt and hes just taking pot shots for clicks.
