‘I know we are all impatient and want success for this club as soon as possible’
I don’t like this line, probably means getting players like McKay and Gresham and trying to win a final to justify any and all decisions, I just don’t see a premiership core on our list from our senior and/or young kids.
I think he’s gone ……heard the interview and Dodoro under review. I liked the setting the standards comments - I interpreted it as the players - a lot of work to do
What did you expect? Barham to go on radio and publicly ■■■■ on a current employee? Thats the kind of ■■■■ Sheedy would do that we want him off the board for.
He answered the questions the best he could - Its obvious that Vozzo has taken charge and reviewing it all and its rightfully up to him and Scott.
Like Barham said - the boards responsibility is to appoint the CEO and Coach and let them do the best. If the board starts getting more involved in operational football matters we could criticise them.
If they are making all the decisions then why is Dodoro still employed and besides I find that hard to believe when Dodoro is still talking to player managers so he still must have some input
You would think though that after 8 long years on the Board, Barham would know who makes the final decision on selecting a player.
Probably one of the most important decision makers at an AFL Club.
In Dave’s defence, regardless of what’s going on in the background and outcomes, he is not going to say publicly on a radio chat if Dodoro’s out of a job.
Of course hes involved but i would bet he doesn’t have the final say on his own. There could be several reasons why he’s not sacked.
One could be they are happy with how the restructure is working or more likely it’s too close to trade time to replace him or maybe they’ve been looking and haven’t found a suitable replacement.
As President there was nothing to stop him saying; the General Manager List & Recruiting holds a very very important position at the club, and given he’s been in and around the job for 26 years and we haven’t won a final since the early 2000’s, I would expect Vozzo and Scott to be seriously assessing his capability.
Not sure about you but I’d be pretty dirty if my manager went out and publicly potted me about performance. Should always be the case that management publicly defend their employees and rip them a new one in private
He can’t exactly come on radio and absolutely spray Adrian. He’s a human being with a family after all, it is distasteful. Sounds like Vozzo and Scott will use Dodoro’s contacts through the next few months and then move him on.
When Barham said ‘they might come to me and say Adrian’s staying’ that sounded like the much more unlikely scenario.
It was always going to be a no win interview if all they wanted to do was ask questions about Dodoro.
He’s not going to come out on radio and discuss an individual employee’s situation.
Also, he’s not a natural media performer.
As an aside if I had been Barham and was asked those questions about Dodoro I would have replied “well you guys are still well down in the radio ratings but, two still have your jobs…”
