David Barham - Our new Board Overlord

Barhamdog

Barham setup the 7 cricket rights yeah? Hoping he sets about change, but the fact that 7 are now looking to get out of the cricket coverage is a bit worrying.

This is a completely naive thought as I have no idea what that type of stuff entails

Well, to be fair to Brasher, there was no bluster; he was very calm and reasoned every time he spoke. He made no promises. He did not speak in platitudes, in fact the direct way he spoke was why we all liked him last year.

The truth is, we expected a lot and we got nothing. What was disappointing was the “we’re backing Ben” approach when really, it was pretty clear from Day 1 that Ben had no clear ideas at all.

I don’t know what Barham will be like. He’s said the right things so far, but then so did Brasher. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

thank you for rescuing our club and telling the other board members to GAGF and we need a external review

thank you

Too early to thank him, an external review is a good start but the incompetent fools running our club are still employed. If he forces them out, then he can have a gold statue outside the hangar

Brasher is a highly respected gent. However he’s a bit Sleepy Joe Bidenish. We need a young gun

So what you’re saying is: "Time will tell"™

Just be patient.

she’ll be right mate

Was bluster the wrong word maybe? He came out talking tough… we’re not broken, we’ll be leaving no stone unturned in our pursuit of excellence. We’ve heard you - you’re tired of silence from the top, you’re tired of a lack of transparency, you’re feeling disengaged. Rutten is absolutely the man, and we’ll be taking every step to back him in.

Nothing has changed… we’re as broken as we were when he fired off his first communique. The support network around Rutten was not beefed-up in any way (when it became absolutely evident there was no defense in our game whatsoever). The club is as opaque as ever, its appointments are as baffling and ill-timed as ever and Brasher’s communications got more and more infrequent once our performances turned to crap (he didn’t even appear to immediately address the outrageous reappointment of Krusty The Snakeoil Salesman). Finally, the fanbase couldn’t be any more disengaged ($500 a head dinners and $1500 Grange-quaffing shindigs couldn’t be any further removed from your rank-and-file supporters and shows how out of touch they really are).

We did not pursue excellence in any way under his watch. We sat back smoking a pipe and kicked the feet up, off the back of an unexpectedly high finish in 2021 (jacked up by a soft draw).

I think Brashers biggest problem was he was too close to Xavier. He was the Finance director for a long time and would have been in the trenches post saga with Xavier navigating us out of that mess. I don’t know but it looks like he mentored or at least had a very close relationship as a result.

That’s what’s held us back big time.

Every manager has a blind spot.
I’ve seen it over and over again in my working life. Hell, I may even have been that blind spot on occasion.
Clearly, X is Brasher’s…
