I’ve lost track of what positions are elected and those appointed. But, if he wanted to return to the board he should seek election at the end of the year.
Very doubtful he would have been getting paid at the Tweed Tigers, a 4th div QFL team. club never would of had more than 5k holding in its bank account
The backpedaling that will unfold as the media come to terms with the ‘Essendon Process’ being no better or worse than any other AFL club. Only wanting Essendon people, doing Essendon things because you know, Essendon, always lauding the past without having an eye on the future, a coach’s graveyard, that regime, who would go there if they had choices, a club run by influential members, failed to nail any of their draft picks, paying out millions on sacked coaches etc etc
You could pretty much take that narrative and find that it sticks to pretty much every other club at some point in time.
We’re an easy target that drives clicks. Come out and say something critical of Essendon and your comments section explodes, subscribers go up and engagement levels drive a favourable algorithm.
Not saying the club is beyond serious criticism, but the hand wringing that goes on in the media is particulalry pronounced.
Then success of failure of our “Process” according to the media will be entirely based on the selected candidate. It Hird, its a sham, its McVeigh we are appeasing the supporters and its welshes mate, Davis or Graham we are not in touch with the supporters and they will last 18 months before we are back at the selection panel again.
A few years ago I was in Palm Cove and Solly and Spike were there with their families. Maybe Solly already knows who the next coach is thus withdrawing his nomination.
I’m so over ‘the process’ that the media and the industry state should be followed to select a coach. Can you imagine the waste of time the process is if Fraser gets the job at Carlton. Its simple let the club headhunt their candidate and if it fails, then the board is answerable to its members.
Wow,
Nearly fell off my chair reading that.
Uptick, WTF, more like an inverted Nike Symbol.
He was the defensive line coach before the sacking, and brought that prowess to the complete onfield unit.
He cleaned up nothing and in my opinion we went backwards.
You seem to forget our second half against Dogs, near miss against GC and win against Melbourne earlier in the year and discount them in comparison to a win against a depleted and battle weary Giants and a few other fragments here and there in amongst the more obvious absolutely deplorable performances of all time the likes of which weren’t seen previously this year.
