Ok, you CAN drag & drop an image, but you can’t AFAICT, … PASTE an image link direct into the editor.
To do that, you need to click on the IMAGE button in the controls across the top of the editor, ( it’s the 4th icon {with the arrow}, from the right).
When you do, a text box pops up, … you need to paste the image URL in there, & then hit ENTER an your keyboard, … then hit POST COMMENT. It works for me every time.

I suspect the issue, domaura, is it doesn’t show up immediately in your window, if you’re using the quickpost box (bottom of page).

Yes HAP, it can be that it didn’t show up straight away. I did refresh and all but still had not come up.
