Dons v Cats - TUES 25th 7.10pm @ the Cattery

Oh, I understand what you’re saying.
Given even luck with injuries, we’re too good not to be winning at a rate of 1 out of every 3 IMO.

Last year in the equivalent practice match we played quite well for three quarters and led by about 3 goals at ¾ time. In the last quarter Geelong stepped up the pace, scored 5 goals in a row and cruised past us and ended up winning by 12.

It was actually the worst sort of practice match for us. The fact that we were on top till ¾ time allowed the coaches to take all sorts of positives out of it, although frankly Geelong were just cruising to that point, and the last quarter was explained away as young team, tiring after a tough game, etc, etc, when the truth was that when Geelong upped the pressure we just crumbled. A junk time goal to Nick Hind made the game look closer than it was.

Geelong haven’t taken us seriously for years, and they’ve had no reason to. They’ve been a couple of classes above us: bigger, stronger, harder at it, more skilful, more talented.

I don’t expect anything better this year.

I still expect to see all of you Blitzers there booing from the front of the Brownlow stand

That Geelong logo is right up there with ours imho that needs a change.

Whiskers looks terrible imho.

Yep. But not many very good or excellent players. You could mount an argument that none of them are very good - apart from Merrett

Is there a Essendon VFL v Geelong game beforehand?
(Wishful thinking I know)

Normally I would agree with you, but I think its important this year to not stink it up to attract talent.
I have this really weird feeling Harley Reid is into us, but that can easily change if we’re getting belted every third week.

Does Lav even play? Maybe he can suit up in the VFL if fit.

I’m keen to get another look at Reid and Hayes, plus need to give Ridley and McKay a half each.

I’d drop by the Tom Edwards thread if I was your good self, and pour yourself a glass of something … slightly fuller than half.

Couple of new exciting draftees, Caddy, Tedwards, Drapes and Bryza combining … you never know. This time the Cats might have to take a bit more notice.

You might be right. And you might not.

Will it be televised?

I think it’s being screened on one of the movie channels as ‘Night of the Living Dead’.

We almost won the preseason game against them last year. It was hardly a reality check.

If the scenario was reversed you would have come up with an equally negative slant. They won the next week and started strongly. Sounds like it was good prep for the season.

Baily Smith may not play for the Cats - apparently he didn’t pull up well from their recent match sim with the Hawks…

The revolution will not be televised.
