Dons v Cats - TUES 25th 7.10pm @ the Cattery

Only just over a week until our 1st ‘official’ practice match after an impressive hitout against the Dogs. Hopefully we see a few senior players come in to give us some chance against Geelong in Geelong as its been slim pickings for us for a long time down there…

Probably available: Durham, McKay, Gresham, Lav, Cox…??

Possible team;-

Reid McKay McGrath
Redman Hayes Shiel
Martin Tsatas Duursma
Gresham Caddy Langford
Kako Draper Edwards

Bryan Caldwell Merrett

Bench from: Durham Hobbs Lav Perkins SEH Roberts Prior Cox

Hopefully a team like that can be competitive - pretty much full strength with the exception of probably Ridley & Parish

Gia said Ridley is going to play in this match also.

Cool - hope Ridley does play and more importantly stays injury free for 2025!

The annual reality check before heading into another season.

Worst opponent for us at the worst venue in the worst timeslot - can’t wait.

Assuming 8 on the bench again, I’m going with:

IN: McKay, Ridley, Durham & Gresham
OUT: Baldwin, Clarke, Roberts & Unwin

B: Ridley McKay McGrath
HB: Redman Reid Shiel
C: Martin Merrett Duursma
HF: Perkins Caddy Gresham
F: Kako Draper Langford
R: Bryan Tsatas Durham

I/C: Edwards Wright Jones Caldwell Hobbs Setterfield El-Hawli Prior

Emg from: Hayes, Clarke, Roberts, Menzie & Unwin

Maybe we go with another defender on the bench (Hayes?) over 2MP/Jones but I want another look at them in better conditions.

So essentially only Parish and Guelfi unavailable from a likely best 23.

Beyond that Alwyn Davey and a few of the kids (Johnson, Day-Wicks, Nguyen).

What season ending injury is lav going to get from these scum this time?

There’s no Perkins does anything but start on the ground after yesterdays performance

Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime.

We played them in the practice match last year and should have won, but ■■■■ our pants at the end.

The cats don’t treat practice matches like they do the normal season.

We have to split our results against Geelong this year.
Enough’s enough.

We broke the Tigers hoodoo.

Got over the stranglehold the Bulldogs had over us.

We stopped FC’s little run against us in '23.

Must win these 2 this year, somehow…

We’ll be lucky to win 5 games this year, let alone thinking about breaking hoodoos against long time bogey teams.

Nah, I can’t see us winning less than 8.
Injuries would have to be brutal.
Even then, we have some depth in most areas of the field.

We’ve got to many good players to be uber sh*te.

Land in Melbourne on Saturday morning. How do i go about getting tickets for Tuesday? Do i just rock up? I’m footy starved!

What was the vfl result by the way?

I think you should be able to just rock up - the Cattery can seat 40,000 odd people so should be no issue getting in

We’ll have to agree to disagree there.

I would rather stomach a 4-5 win season and finish near the bottom as a reality check to the club and fan base compared with the mediocre 10-11 win season (again!) in no man’s land.

Cox has zero chance of playing.

They didn’t open the whole ground last year. Suspect it’ll be the same this year.

There’ll only be ~10-15k seats available if so. The crowd wasn’t huge last year, but most available seats were taken.
