Dr Who

There should be a decent piece in the Hun on the 23rd (not about me, sadly; I begged out).

"An Australian parliamentarian, George Christensen MP, proudly wearing a Fourth Doctor scarf, has presented a motion in the Australian Parliament, acknowledging the strong links between Australia and Doctor Who on the 50th anniversary of its debut. Mr Christensen mentioned the important role that a number of Australians have played in the long history of Doctor Who, including C.E. "Bunny" WebberAnthony CoburnRon GrainerDudley Simpson, "adopted Aussie" Katy ManningJanet Fielding and Kylie Minogue. Mr Christensen's speech can be seen here on YouTube.

The motion also proposed that the Australian Broadcasting CorporationScreen Australia and the various Australian state-based film funding bodies consider offering finance to entice the BBC to film the 2015 series in Australia to mark the 50th anniversary of its first Australian screening in 1965. The motion attracted bipartisan support and three other parliamentarians spoke in its favour."

I'd vote that man in as PM...

The publicity machine has hit fever pitch!

It's at #177.

Going tomorrow!

Allegedly the minisode The Last Day has been released on iTunes in the US and UK. No huge surprises in this one though by all accounts.

IO9 have ranked every story. http://io9.com/every-single-doctor-who-story-ranked-from-best-to-wors-1468104049

Caves of Androzani, Blink and City of Death are the top three. Can't say I agree with a lot of it but it's generally reasonably good.

For what it's worth I'd probably put Tomb of the Cybermen first. Probably...

Matt Smith may have auditioned for the next Star Wars film...

Agreed, far from the worst list I've seen. But Tomb best ever, no way.

I see the author is one of those literal types who think everything you see should be taken at face value, and therefore doesn't rate Love and Monsters. I love that story.

FWIW, to avoid just being a bagger, a list I did after series 1 had a top five of Talons of Weng-Chiang, Caves of Androzani, Empty Child/Doctor Dances, Curse of Fenric, and City of Death.

I've never been a huge fan of Talons. City of Death is easily top three though. Along with... Maybe Genesis. Maybe Blink. Maybe The Daemons. The second series of Tennant's is pretty much solid gold after 42. Which I'd put in my bottom ten. But still above Fear Her. Which may be the worst thing ever.

I think we can all agree Fear Her is pants.

Having said that, the Schrodinger joke and the TARDIS landing with the doors facing the wrong direction were sweet.

In the wake of watching Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS I was convinced it was the worst, but Fear her keeps on coming back to soil my day.

Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS is an odd one. It's visually interesting, has pace and nice direction, but every now and then (and at the end) I go "1) what the fark's going on? and 2) do I agree with these depictions of the guts of the TARDIS?"

At least we got to see the pool.

Reading 1984 again, and it’s only just struck me that despite the book describing O’Brien as athletic, in my mind he’s always been Nyder from Genesis.
