Ok guys, so we're fast approaching the National Draft and it's clearly as exciting as ever due to the fact having two picks inside the top 20 (and of course the unpredictability). I thought I'd create a thread where we all guess the two players to land at 17 & 20, and then after the draft, come back here and compare!!
So, I'll go first:
17: Peter Wright
20: Jarrod Garlett
i think that would provide the list balance we are looking for and would be a great outcome. can't see it happening though

I think the best possible outcome would be a multi-positional tall like Wright or Goddard, and an inside/outside mid with pace like Cockatoo or all-round utility Laverde.
17: Somebody we havent talked about much
20: Somebody we have never talked about
Serious guess
17: Garlett
20: Miller
17 Goddard if not goddard happy with Laverde, weller, wright, cockatoo, who ever slips
20 Garlett

17 - benfti special
20 - vanilla panic merchant
Somewhere between 20 and 30 - someone who kicks 35 goals in their second season and Blitz goes full Blitz "why didn't we draft him" mong
-edit- Just looked at the draft order. It will be whoever goes at 31.
17. Stop drafting half back flankers
20. What did I just say?
Only thing I know for sure is no matter who we draft, blitz will be divided.
Well, I think we could create history.
17. Connor Menadue
20. Connor Blakely
Added to Connor McKenna.
Surely no club has had 3 Connor's on their list at once before.
Triple Connor Bombers.
Hysterical Historical.
If we simply must draft a HBF at 17, I'd be more than happy for it to be J.LAVERDE

fair enough. I think we already have 2 very good to great multi position talls so a tall/ruck is higher priority IMO.
My view is that a genuinely elite outside player with elite speed, endurance and skills could have a much more trans-formative impact on our midfield. Think of the impact jetta had at sydney 2 years ago. The impact smith and hill have had at hawthorn.
yes having an absolute gun that can play both inside or outside effectively and has pace to burn would be great but are we going to find him at 17- 20?. based on youtube only if nakia was on the table i probably would take him over garlett. not an easy choice though.
i also think we have one of the best inside/outside players in the comp right now albeit one without a great deal of leg speed - Hepp
*edit: is taller than i thought, i had it in my head that he was lamb size. i would be far from upset if he slipped to us even if it meant JD ends up with more ruck responsibility.
17. shane yarren
20. who cares
How is Laverde slipping so much when all the talk was him at 5 to Pies early days?
How is Laverde slipping so much when all the talk was him at 5 to Pies early days?
NFI.
Media just jumping on him being placed at 15 on Champion data rankings?
Doc Reid talking up his degenerative knee condition?
I guess if we don't go down the Triple Connor route, I would like
17. Lachie Weller (if he slips)
20. Jarrod Garlett
If they cant mark the ball at its highest point then I'm not interested & Dodoro should be sacked.
Media have no idea, most open draft list I have seen.
I'm tipping there will be genuine surprise bolter in the top 15, and it looks likely that one of the alleged top ranked players will slip to us.* I just don't know which one.
Without my crystal ball in hand I'm tipping:
17 - Langdon
20 - Garlett
Feeling pretty positive - think it'll take some effort to stuff this up. Reckon we'll get two handy players at the very least.
* This is one draft where the definition of slipping is very loose. Seems pretty even between about picks 8-20, with a lot of disparate opinions. Given that I think we'll see more clubs specifically pick for needs, rather than a contentious best available.
