So Happy. What a wonderful feeling to be able to watch the replay over and over again. Just feeling hopeful again.
Booo
David King on SEN speaking about Dreamtime. Saying he doesn’t think our game plan that involves taking all those marks and playing uncontested football will hold up to get you a lot of wins.
This was Scott and the coaching panel trying to take away Richmond’s strength, right? It actually isn’t our usual game plan…
Correct. Ignore King.
I don’t mind this,
loves Esssendon, probably hates his dad anyway, but has more reasons than us.
I said something similar to a mate before the final quarter of the Collingwood game. Had we won that game, it could well have been era defining. I’m very happy that we may have achieved this feat only a few weeks later against the Tigers. This could very well be the night we look back on in years to come and say, ’ That’s when we turned the corner as a club.’
Just reflecting on a Monday morning after that win. For me that’s our most significant win as a club since Anzac Day 2013.
To beat this team that has monstered us for just under a decade, to finally come out on top in a close one after a month-long losing streak, to have fans hugging each other in the stands after the match - it was a special moment.
Want do mean probably?

winning the close one was vs GWS when Hooker goaled
I recall one vs Hawthorn where Hooker goaled.
■■■■■■■ hell that crowd was loud as well. That was stadium shaking loud

Correct. Ignore King
good life advice
Unless he gives you “his opinion” on how the rising star may be awarded. Take that to the bank.
Just started the replay. Was jobe drunk or just totally out of sorts?
The Hooker winner was Rd.2 2015, after we gave up a 40pt lead in the wet at Homebush a week earlier to lose to the Swans.
Against the Hawks, we also gave up a 35pt lead early in the 2nd to trail by close to 3 goals in the last.
It was a great game.
Probably Hurley at his absolute peak, who barely gave Roughead a touch.
So glad I went with my daughter and her friend. She was super keen to go. I wasn’t, given the trauma of the last 9 years.
The lead up to Durham’s mark was electric. When he took the mark, all Essendon supporters went off realising we were about to break the curse. It was epic, so much so I was hugging the bloke and his mate next to me.
With the game itself, the resilience and belief in the group was palpable. They were always in the game.
Richmond don’t put time into oppositions best players. They back their system to do the job. Thank goodness. Zac and Ridley won’t be afforded the same time and space against other teams but when they are, look out!
Given the occasion, the spate of recent close losses, the 13 game losing streak, and desperately wanting the win to frank the surging belief in the new Essendon, I’d rate this game (outside of GF’s) top 3. So, so special. I’m still buzzing albeit without a voice!
Aside from the result of course my takeaway was the fact we finally had a plan b.
The coaching team knew our normal game plan wouldn’t work for the most part against theirs, So we adjusted and smashed them tactically.
Light years ahead of previous seasons
Amongst the pandemonium at the game of the Durham mark and goal…I had forgotten Tippa’s point earlier…and thought we’d drawn level, until I glanced at the scoreboard. Nice surprise!
And that Richmond pelican missing everything. The second he did that I knew we’d win. Written in the stars
