Heard this week that NM have/will table a massive offer for Dusty. Interesting comments from Brendon Gale on ABC over the weekend, Iād be concerned if I were a Richmond fan based off those comments. Theyāve already moved on to signing up Rioliā¦
Couldnāt find the soundbite but hereās the ABC quote:
RICHMOND CEO Brendon Gale has conceded that Richmond will not be upping their initial offer to Dustin Martin in the fear that it may damage their wage structure.
āWe feel our offer is significant but it is unrealistic for us to match all offers put forward to Dustin so weāll just have to wait and seeā, he told ABC Radio.
āWe are aware Dustin and his management are speaking to another club but we are just thinking of our long term future and weāll do whatās right for Richmond Football Clubā, he added.
It has been reported that North Melbourne is the club that have spoken to Martinās management, with the Kangaroos set to trump the Tigersā offer for the star midfielderās signature.
Gale continued to stress the importance of securing young gun Daniel Rioliās services. āSigning Daniel on last week was great for our football club. Heās only young but heās already a leader and we are glad he will be around with us for some time.ā
Richmond face finals bound counterpart GWS at the MCG on Sunday.
I would be surprised if we donāt have a plan B or even Plan A1
Surely we wouldnāt be putting all our eggs in one basket, surely we would say āwell we are willing to part with 1.2m for dusty but if he wonāt leave then maybe spent $1m on player Xā (ie: kelly)
LMAO what is this tin rattling VFA club smokingā¦ Yeah Norfff Martin & Kelly are going to sign with you, & in other news Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar & Coutinho are about to sign for Watford
So Richmond give an offer and refuse to budge knowing full well someone else will offer more. Someone else offers more, they match said offer thus ensuring that they either get more compo than the AFL will give them, or keep Dusty.
